About Chris Alford
We're from the small community of Pilot, NC. We both went to Bunn High School, I went to Wake Forest University on a partial baseball scholarship and my wife went to East Carolina University. As a young boy that was part of a rural farm family, my first baseball was a corn cob and my bat was a tobacco stick. I started in center-field for Campbell JC and Wake Forest with borrowed cleats and glove and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1950. I was in the US Army at Fort Jackson, SC during the Korean War and I played some professional baseball in Nova Scotia, Canada and Edenton, NC. We are both retired public school teachers. I was a US history teacher, a baseball and basketball coach and a principal for most of my career. My wife taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade and taught 3rd most of her career. We both taught Sunday school at our local church for 30+ years. I've been a Deacon, choir member and church moderator for around 63 years. I retired in 1985 and then sold real estate for 18 years. My wife retired in 1991; she took off 7 years while our children were young. I've been a member of Lions Club International since 1967 and a charter member and 3 time president of our local club. I won the International Melvin Jones Fellow Award for Humanitarian Services in 1991. I also served on the local school board for 8 years after retiring. We support our local public school and attend many sporting events there. Our son Chris has handled our rentals and much of the upkeep since we purchased the condo.
Chris Alford purchased this Condo in 2004
Why Chris Alford chose Crescent Beach
We've always loved the Crescent Shores location and we used to talk about that location when the old Rock'n K Motel was there. We first visited the Grand Strand in 1947 and honeymooned there in 1954. We sometimes rented from Vanna White's mom and dad when they had a real estate company next to where the Crescent Shores parking deck is now. We've visited and stayed in 100+ Grand Strand condos, houses and motels over the years and we still visit new ones today to see what they offer. We migrated mostly to North Myrtle Beach in the early 1970's. When we chose Crescent Shores, we did it after an extensive search and we are happy with our choice. Our condo represents the sale of a family farm and a like-kind tax exchange; it does not represent public school teacher retirement!
What makes this Condo unique
We love the balcony view and sitting on it to watch nature and the lovely Atlantic. The sound of the ocean waves are quite tranquil. I'm a avid golfer and my wife enjoys riding the carts and looking at the courses. What better place to do it than the Golf Capital of the World? We've played them all so far and some many times; we're just waiting for the next one to open. It was a great place to visit as a young family in the 60's and it's a great place for granddad and grandmother visit today; especially when the grandchildren visit with us. Crescent Shores works very well for us and our condo has all the comforts and features of home and more. We personally take care of it to suit us and our renters.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Great place to stay enjoyed our week!!
Thanks for the review Trevor; we hope you'll come back again.
Love our condo and beach!!
We love this condo. Very clean and so comfortable. Always well maintained and a pleasure to do business with. Always pleased
Thanks for for the review and for staying Gwen; come back often.
Very nice Condo with an amazing view. we had 10 guests and did not feel crowded at all, the amount of bathrooms and beds made it a nice stay for all ages that we had for the week. no complaints here. thanks for letting us stay Chris.
Thanks for the Review, Brian, and thank you for staying; we hope you come back again! Many times would be great; I think 6 is the record by the same group. Off-season is a nice time for visit with great pricing and less crowds...my favorite. My brother also has a nice beach house in Hatteras, NC with a private pool, screened porch, 3 deck levels and hot tub that sleeps 11; you may want to try it sometime? Totally different atmosphere but a great place to visit in my opinion. VRBO 317074.
The only issue we experienced was the kitchen wasn’t a full stock as we anticipated.
We cook a lot while on vacation and didn’t seem to have many utensils, pots, and pans. But other than that we had a great trip and the weather was wonderful.
Wow....not many utensils....did you look in all the drawers, bottom of stove drawer and cabinets? I need to go take some pictures. Unless someone stole some since I was last there in early May......there should be about 24 spoons tea and table, same with knives and forks in 2 different drawers....plus bigger spoons and butter knives and such; probably 3 large fry pans and 2 small ones and pots of most every size with tops.....double of a couple sizes. 2-3 drain baskets, 3 measuring cups, 2 ice cream scoops, wine opener, 2 graters, knife sharpeners, lemon, cutting board, lime and orange squeezers, probably 4-5 wooden utensils, 8 plastic, 3-4 metal; pasta do-hicky, shrimp deveiner, big knives and steak knives that are greater than occupancy, whisk, manual can openers, pizza cutter and 2 pizza pans, 3-4 bread pans, broiler pan, cheese cutter, 2 graters, spatulas, measuring spoons, strainers, tongs x 2, pastry blender, potato masher,12 plates in 3 sizes, 12 bowls.....some plastic bowls and cups but they do get missing often.......I bought some in May but they always go missing and I buy them once per year and I'm tired of doing that! The plastic-ware is just like the good clothes racks I buy.... except with the good clothes racks....I do sometimes get left bad ones as a replacement. I have more plastic-ware to take down on my next visit and I'll certainly look over the utensils. I thought I had most of what WalMart and Bed, Bath and Beyond sell......plus a couple of nice kitchen supply stores in Tanger Outlet. I don't have many glass pans or Corningware type bowls there and I have few storage things for leftovers. I don't have crab leg breakers or oyster knives. I'm sure I missed naming several items. Thanks for visiting Jennifer and I'm glad you had a great trip! Come back again, we'd be glad to have your family stay again and I'll search the kitchen over well on my next visit in August or Sept. and restock. In the mean-time......if there is something someone should really need....they can always call my local caretakers...1/3 mile away and they will gladly supply my kitchen after asking me about the piece(s) and for something small...they'd just supply it anyway. I won't keep many plastic cups or storage contains....they go MIA too easily. I'd like to keep some for the balcony but it's hard to do!!! Thanks again! ....crock pot/slow cooker, 2 coffee makers....the general toaster, blender, can opener...etc.
Wonderful family vacation before first grandchild arrives!
Chris your condo is beautiful! Our stay was perfect!! My daughter who is 6 months pregnant and her husband went to seen everything the could. However, my other daughter and her boyfriend are first responders for our local fire department. The loved the ability to go down to the beach and just veg!!
We loved the ability to cook and not having to go out to eat all the time, with Molly Darcy’s next door, it would be hard to do. It is a good thing we waited until our last day to go there! There were so many activities with in walking distance, which was also nice. If we come your way again, I am definitely looking you up!!
Thanks for a Wondy Vacation!!
Thanks a bunch for the nice review and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay!!! People can do different things and everyone enjoy themselves. Come back often Anmarie, we'll be glad to have you stay! Molly Darcy's is about150 feet...building to building from us....that's nice too.
This is the third year renting this property and we will continue to do so. It is spacious, clean and well taken care of. The amenities are great and it is so relaxing to be right on the beach!
Thanks for coming back Leslie! It's always good to have repeat customers and we try to take care of things at the condo to keep it a nice place to stay.....always updating. Thanks for the review!
We're located in the Crescent Section of North Myrtle Beach, a city formed by 4 different beaches in 1968; sister city to Myrtle Beach, 4-5 miles to the south. Most people visit the Grand Strand and don't know there are 2 different cities. NMB is family friendly and home of Barefoot Landing, Alabama Theater and House of the Blues and much more. The section between the 2 cities is mostly referred to as Restaurant Row and inc. Myrtle Beach Mall and Bass Pro Shops (.5 mi. south of NMB) and Tanger Outlets (1 mile south of NMB). NMB is home to the Shag (dance), great beach music and hometown of Wheel of Fortune's Vanna White.
