Foxes Shute is a detached cottage that has been recently redecorated (2012) by the new owners. It is a delightful cottage at the heart of this lively Cornish village. It is only a minutes walk from the bustling fishing harbour with its sandy beach. Mousehole is an ideal place to bring children and watch them play safely on the golden sand. There are a maze of streets lined with excellent restaurants, galleries and gift shops. Although Foxes Shute has a traditional exterior we aim to provide you with every modern convenience (WIFI, Broadband, BTVision, Wide screen TV, Ipod dock, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee machine etc.) to make your stay as comfortable and stress free as possible.

About Andrew Potts
We both live in Rome I am English but I have been living here since 1991. My CP is Roman but has Sicilian origins. I was raised in the Camborne/Redruth area of Cornwall. I have always loved the Penwith peninsula and when we visited in the summer of 2011 we decided to buy a cottage here that would be our eventual retirement home. For now unfortunately we have to work until that day when we can come 'home' to Cornwall.
Why Andrew Potts chose Mousehole
I fell in love with this property the moment I saw it in December 2011 and then we saw it on TV in Caroline Quentin's Cornwall (episode 4). We both returned to see it in April and made the offer almost immediately. We love Mousehole, the place and the people so much that in August 2012 we had our civil partnership in Penzance, wedding lunch at the Coastguards in Mousehole and then a reception at Foxes Shute, our home. For us this is not just a financial investment. It is an investment in our future in a place that we love and that we are proud to call home. I spent July and August in Foxes Shute and my partner arrived at the beginning of August. It was a truly fantastic summer and we honestly feel that you will love the Foxes Shute, Mousehole and Cornwall as much as we do.
What makes this Cottage unique
Foxes Shute is less than a minute from the harbour front, it is at the heart of the village and all that it has to offer. Mousehole itself is ideally positioned to explore the beauty and heritage of the Penwith Peninsula and Cornwall.
Fantastic property in a great location
Lovely cottage and highly recommended. Owners have done amazingly well with the inevitable small space. Loved our welcome cream tea and wonderful art around the property. Very clean and warming and loved the fire
Lovely cottage with plenty of character, beautifly decorated, clean and great location
Our stay was wonderful, we love Mousehole anyway as it is so relaxing and pretty with lovely restaurants and harbour.
The cottage was great with everything you needed even wifi which pleased our 15 year old daughter! The owners were very helpful through the booking process and there was even cream tea on arrival which was a real treat!
It is in a great location as only a short walk to the harbour and you can see the sea from the landing window.
Our only negative would be that the garden is not enclosed so if you have a naughty Westie who likes to run off it's not the best, but apart from that the garden is lovely as the table and chairs are in the sun and it is quite a little sun trap.
Overall a lovely cottage and we really enjoyed our stay and will hopefully return again one day.
wonderful little cottage
We loved Foxes Chute. Andrew and Giovanni had thought of everything, (including dog bowls!) which is not always the case when renting holiday houses. The house was also spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated with some of Andrew's paintings. We appreciated the cream tea as a welcome and the shower was brilliant.
Thank you for the lovely comments. Foxes Shute is also our second home so we try to make guests feel welcome.
Foxes Shute is a beautiful cottage in the most perfect location, what more could you ask for! Andrew & Giovanni have truly thought of everything. We felt very relax the minute we arrived. The cottage was very clean & had everything we needed & more! I stayed here with my husband & two young children & the cottage was a perfect size for us. Cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch. The children loved the harbour & a very kind neighbour let the kids use his crab pod. We caught around 20 crabs which they put back after. All in all we had a wonderful stay & Andrew & Giovanni couldn't of been more helpful. We would love to return one day.
wonderful cottage in beautiful Mousehole
A friend and I stayed here for 5 nights in May when we were treated to wonderful warm sunshine. The cottage is cosy, very well equipped (especially kitchen utensils, which is often a let-down in many holiday rentals), even a washing line outside for our washing! Loved all the local additions such as paintings, books, maps, trinkets. Didn't use the log burner but liked looking at it! Perfect location for strolling around Mousehole. We appreciated the welcome biscuits and there being some tea and milk there on our arrival from a long journey! I would come back for sure. Loved the cottage and Mousehole.
We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We love it there too and think of it as our home away from home. Come back any time and we'll even give you a returning guest discount.
Andrew & Giovanni
We really enjoyed our stay at Foxes Shute in Mousehole over Xmas and New year period. Mousehole and the lights were amazing x
Foxes Shute is a minute's walk from the harbour which has a sandy beach. On the Penwith Peninsula there are several world famous beaches, Porthcurno (with the Minack Theatre) is ten minute drive, Sennen Cove is about 15 minutes. To the east are the golden sands of Mount's Bay and Marazion (10 minutes), and the various secluded beaches and coves of the Lizard Peninsula.
To really explore the area a car is recommended (although we managed for 2 months easily by bus). The public transport system is well-organised, efficient and regular. The nearest airport is Newquay (summer) and Bristol. There nearest train Station is in 3 miles away in Penzance (with direct connections to London Paddington in 5hrs30). There are also car rental agencies by the train/bus station in Penzance.
Mousehole is a picturesque village ideally located to explore the surrounding Penwith and Lizard Peninsulas. From stunning beaches to idyllic villages, tin mining heritage to monolithic rock formations, rugged moors to verdant valleys, from cliff walking to sunbathing. Cornwall has something for everyone to enjoy and explore.
Mousehole has a good range of restaurants from fine dining at the Coastguards, 2 Fore and Cornish Range, more informal at the Ship, Jessie's Dairy, Janner's Fish and Chip Shop and Pam's Pantry. For your basic food supplies the shop/post office is well stocked (with excellent bread delivered daily and fresh shellfish on order). There are a range of galleries and gift shops along the harbour front and tucked away in the maze of streets behind. There is a larger Co-Op in Newlyn (along with galleries, deli and an excellent home made ice cream shop Jelbert's). Penzance has a full range of shops, supermarkets, gift shops, galleries, cafés, delis etc.
