About Pippa Mackie

Pippa Mackie purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Pippa Mackie chose Deal
You will find all you need here for a relaxing seaside break, As a dog owner myself, I am happy for you to bring your well behaved dog to the cotage. All the family love Dragon and we hope you find it as relaxing and restorative as we all do.
What makes this Cottage unique
The dog walks and the lively artistic community with exhibitions and live music going on are a fantastic escape from the hurly burly of work life. On arrival, the car is parked and everything is then in easy walking reach - wonderful. The shops are a great mix of known high street brands like Marks and Spencers and quirky local shops like Dublin and Diver, the Horton shop, Smoke on the Water and Peppers health foods. There is a fantastic choice of places to eat and drink - all nearby and, of course, the sea is on our doorstep

Lovely cottage in an ideal location.
Delightful cosy cottage
We loved the cottage, it is cosy and comfortable, very clean and very well equipped. We really liked being right in the heart of the conservation area, with its interesting cottages and a strong sense of history, but close to all amenities.
A gem of a cottage
A beautifully appointed cottage in an excellent location in the preservation area.
Everything we needed was to hand. It was the ideal choice for us.
Thanks for your lovely review and so glad that you had everything you needed and enjoyed your time in Deal. We look forward to welcoming you back
Practically perfect in every way!
What a lovely place to stay. Dragon Cottage was perfect for our winter break in Deal.
So well located near the seafront, shops and restaurants.
The cottage itself is lovely. Well equipped and cosy. Loved the kitchen and enjoyed some happy mealtimes at the table with a glass or two of wine.
The living room has a real fire which we enjoyed lighting once or twice as in February with it being a tad cold, we couldn’t resist it, wonderful!
Upstairs the bedroom was again well equipped and what a cosy bed!
It was hard to get up in the mornings but the delights of Deal just about won out.
So many lovely touches such as a welcome hamper with biscuits, tea, coffee jams, marmalade and my favourite MARMITE. Towel bathrobes, shower gel and shampoos. Ice cubes already prepared in the large fridge freezer.
A bit cold for us to stay out in but we imagine the little courtyard garden with table and chairs will be great in the summer season.
We visited the busy high street, bought some lovely food from the deli and the Saturday market. The walk into Walmer was good as we had sunshine every day of our stay.
We had a great curry at Dine India and really like The Bohemian pub.
The cafe at the end of the pier sells the most amazing scotch eggs.
We have had a wonderful time in Dragon Cottage, we will return...it’s a done DEAL!
Hurray for the Marmite - love it or hate it and we got it right for you. There have been many happy meals with wine taken so you are carrying on a good tradition there. We look forward to welcoming you again
Elegant, welcoming and comfortable cottage
The house is lovely with a number of thoughtful touches for guests, incredibly comfortable beds and cozy kitchen and den. Location is wonderful for exploring historic Deal and easy drive to both Canterbury and Dover. Had a wonderful stay and hope to be back someday!
What a lovely review - thank you. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay
Lovely and cosy
We have thoroughly enjoyed staying in the cottage. All very clean, very cosy and for us Germans it is a true cottage from olden days. The town Deal has still got the true English touch one looks out for in an oldish town. We have had a lovely holiday and can strongly recommend Dragon Cottage.
Thank you for the lovely review - we are very pleased that you found the cottage clean and cosy and look forward to welcoming you back

This is an excellent area for cyclists with very accessible and level coastal routes to explore. There are many historical sites to visit - Deal, Walmer and Dover Castle, Canterbury Cathedral, the ruins at Reculver and the roman ruins at Richborough Castle just outside Sandwich. River trips from Sandwich quay to the ruins make for a delightful afternoon's adventure.

The shopping centre is a 4 minute walk from the cottage and contains all the shops, restaurants, pubs that will make your holiday easy and enjoyable. Deal, Walmer and Dover castle are all nearby.
There is a wide choice of dining available from 'fine dining' at 81, The Court Yard and Dunkerleys, to family provision at the Royal Hotel and the Three Compasses, with many tea and coffee shops nearby - our favourite is the Black Douglas which does superb Eggs Benedict and all types of coffee. Thre is a wide range of cuisine locally including, Thai, Indian, Chinese, French, and, of course, Fish and Chips! There are 13 pubs within 10 minutes walk - many of which have live music each week. The pier boasts an architectural award winning restaurant and the Band Stand at Walmer gives a traditional experience to those who like brass bands on a Sunday afternoon with an ice cream cone from the travelling Solleys Ice Cream vendor.
