Relaxing retreat in a rural setting, pet friendly, 15 minute walk to beach
Diane Le Grice
About Diane Le Grice
The White House has been my family home since 1979. Since retiring from 29 years of running my own Nursery School I decided to convert the wash house and the adjacent Nursery school buildings into three unique holiday homes. I love this location and wanted to share it so that others might enjoy the birds, wildlife, peace and tranquility of the Norfolk countryside and nearby unspoilt beaches. My family are grown up now, but still can't wait to get back to East Somerton and revisit familiar haunts, cycling through the farm estate to wonderful sandy beaches in summer or walks to see the seals on Horsey beach, with a pub lunch to follow in winter. I manage the lettings myself and take pride in what we have to offer. I love to welcome visitors to this area of Norfolk and am happy to provide any help or information you might need to ensure you have the best possible time while you are here.

Why Diane Le Grice chose Somerton
We love the peace and tranquility of the Norfolk countryside and it's coast. Here we have the best of both worlds. The house and adjoining holiday accommodation is set amongst fields, yet the village of Winterton-on-Sea with it's well known dog friendly pub, beach cafe, P.O, fish and chip shop and wide sandy beaches is only a 15 minute walk along the bridle path that runs beside the garden. As a family we enjoy the fact that the beach, bird-watching, walks and cycling trails are on our doorstep. Although our home and holiday cottages are situated in an idyllic rural location, Norwich, National Trust properties, The Broads, The Norfolk coastline, tourist attractions and countless pretty Norfolk villages are easily reached by car.
What makes this Cottage unique
Big Sky at Big Sky Cottages overlooks a SSSI where many native and migratory birds can be seen - ideal for bird watchers and country lovers. The views from the mezzanine level and balcony are amazing. Our rural setting offers a rural respite yet guests are well based to travel and explore the whole of East and North Norfolk. Big Sky is perfect for couples and for bigger family groups when Martin’s Nest and Ladybird can be used to offer separate sleeping accommodation. This seems to work particularly well for grandparents! Each property has it’s own entrance and outside seating area as well as access to the large shared garden. Our guests return again and again.

Nice and secluded
Nice location if you want to get away from it all
Yes, we can’t offer excitement and lots of entertainment here but we can provide a lovely location and hopefully a relaxing retreat from the hurly burly of modern life with good food at the local pub.
Glad you gave us a visit, hope to see you again.
The perfect weekend getaway!
Easy to book and prompt responses to any questions I had regarding facilities at the property. Diane is very welcoming and the property itself is in a fantastic location and we were lucky to have sunny weather the whole time- this meant some amazing sunrises and sunsets from the upper bedroom terrace. Altogether a wonderful location, host and property 10/10 will be recommending to friends and family.
Beautiful Peaceful Holiday
It was a beautiful property with wonderful views from the bedroom balcony. Lovely garden , loved the living space downstairs. Wonderfully unspoilt countryside , beach and walks. Highly recommend it . Diane gave us a great welcome and always there if we needed her. . We had a brilliant holiday and staying at Big Skye cottage was the main reason why we did .
Thank you Sue for your glowing review. When upgrading Big Sky we wanted to create a stylish and comfortable retreat to enable our guests to relax and feel at home.
It was very rewarding to see you both enjoy our peaceful surroundings, take walks to the beach, appreciate local pub and beach cafe food and visit the many interesting places nearby.
We look forward to seeing you both again.
Beautiful setting for a memorable break in Norfolk!
Diane was there when we arrived to show us around. Big Sky has beautiful views across wheat fields and towards the sand dunes. It was a great house with good access to explore Norfolk. Beaches are close by, we went for off road bike rides with kids, saw the seals basking on the beach, ate fish and chips from the local chippy, plus there’s a great pub walking distance. Couldn’t have asked for more. Diane is a great host. Nothing was too much trouble and she is so friendly!
Fantastic cottage, ideal location
Had an amazing stay. Diane was very welcoming and the property was perfect. We all had a wonderful time, dogs especially
Wonderful property with large, spacious gardens in a fantastic location, and as if that isn`t enough, the owner lives next door and is an absolute gem of a lady who goes the extra mile for her guests without being intrusive. The kids and our dog especially, loved every minute of our stay. Faultless!!!
