About the property

5 Bedrooms 4 Baths House (Beds for 16+) plus 2 couches & lots of floor space

WE JUST REPLACED FURNITURE so all is new. It was rented by the year & the people had their own furniture. But when renters moved we decided to go back to VRBO so we furnished new in February, 2018. This is a beautiful five bedroom, four bath home (3,000 square feet) in a quiet gated golf community. It has a large front porch with a swing and rocking chairs and a large back porch with benches, table and chairs, and a gas grill. It overlooks Lake Catherine (not on the lake but overlooks). Deer constantly roam the area and pass right under the deck or in the yard.

The home has three floors connected with a spiral staircase. Upstairs are two bedrooms with 1 queen bed in each with a bathroom beside. The main level has the kitchen, bathroom, living-room, fireplace, huge living area, and the master bedroom with a queen-sized bed & walk in closet & bathroom. The living room & dining room opens out to the huge back deck with grill. The lower level has a storage room, laundry room, and 2 bedrooms (1 large 1 small) with a his and her bathroom. One bedroom has 3 bunk beds with twins over double = 9 sleepers (mainly for kids). The beds face a sliding glass door which looks out to Lake Catherine. The other has a twin bed). The downstairs is usually for all the kids to gather. The home has free Wi-Fi.

The house is fully-furnished with pots and pans, dishes, linens, paper towels etc.... Great for family reunions or church groups.

About Kenneth Cooper

I'm a retired Air Traffic Controller & Carol is retired from Continental Airlines. We like to travel. We use this home for our big family get-togethers every other Christmas or Thanksgiving & some Summer get-togethers.

Kenneth Cooper purchased this house in 1998

Why Kenneth Cooper chose Hot Springs

Diamondhead is such a peaceful, quiet area. We love to have family reunions. And this house is large enough to handle our large family. We watch deer roam the grounds or go to waterparks, fishing, skiing or hiking to the waterfall. We like to rent a pontoon boat & take a family on a boat ride around the lake (pulling kids on a float behind) Serendipity House is a great place to make memories with our grandkids.

Serendipity House

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Serendipity House! There was plenty of room for our family, and we especially liked having the extra bathrooms. The view is gorgeous from the deck! We loved having the grill for doing some outdoor cooking too. Our grand children sure enjoyed the porch swing and playing at the neigborhood park. I have to say the location is awesome: Lake Catherine State Park is simply beautiful! And it was an easy drive into Hot Springs, where there is much to do and see. I would definitely plan to stay here again when we are in the area. Thanks so much, we had a wonderful spring break!

One concern is a check out step: to strip the beds of the linens which was only to pull the sheets and not the spreads, shams and skirting unless soiled. We had a child get sick on our vacation, so our son and his family had to leave early. But my point is prior to the sickness our granddaughter was all over the house and in different sleeping areas! We pulled all linens due to that fact but how do we know if the family before us didn’t have a similar situation? This check out step is not very sanitary for the next guests. As a renter we pay a cleaning fee and I expect the entire set of linens to be clean when we arrive and cleaned for the next set of guests!!!!

Owner's Response: Dear Donald, Well I can see how you would get that idea. BUT stripping the beds is only to help the cleaners get a good start. They DO change all the sheets. But if they had to strip all the beds themselves also thats 10 beds (3 being bunk beds which are a pain) it would ad about an hour to the cleaning. It helps alot if the previous renters strip the beds & put linens (towels, sheets) in a pile in the washroom. Just a step I suggest to help the cleaners get off to a quicker clean as it is a huge job to get it done before 4 P.M. If there are ohter renters. SOMETIMES the renters don't strip the beds & the cleaners have to do them all anyway. That's just the way it goes. BUT I implemented the stripping of the beds if you can to help the cleaners. Glad you had a good time though. Thanks, Kenneth

Great location... Amazing Views... Great for family reunions

  • 4 of 5

Check In was well explained. Loved the experience. When we arrived at 11 PM, we saw Police vehicles at the Main Community gate so got reaffirmation that the property community is well guarded.

The property is little bit inside fully covered with trees and may become pretty dark in night but that was alright based on detailed explanation on how to find the keys etc.

The main living area, kitchen (fully equipped), upstairs bedrooms and downstairs bedrooms were perfect.

The only reason I am taking one star away because the staircase carpet and the main bedroom closet carpets definitely need a good steam cleaning and a scrub. We did not even enter the closet.

The views - Oh My god, can not beat this. Just cannot. Morning coffeee in the balcony with a full view of Lake was amazing. Colors from the fall in the property was just breath taking.

This property will get dark in night but we were a family of 12 so it was good experience.

The furniture/mattresses were in good shape. Full score there.

Overall - We highly recommend this property and the only suggestion to wonderful house owners - Please take care of those carpet with a good steam / brush clean from cleaning vendors.

Thank you for our memories.

Owner's Response: Dear Sunny, Yes the stairs carpet is always a problem. The closet is clean. The carpet color is actually a light tan with black & purple specks in it. So at 1st glance it does appear dirty. It use to be in the entire bedroom but we took it out for that reason. Glad you liked the stay though. Kenneth

Weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is my third visit to Hot Springs and we generally rent Condos. This place is absolutely fantastic and next to lake catherine. Cup of coffee with drizzling rain and fall colors sums up the fun we had. Good place for a family get together and definitely worth the penny.
