About louise todd
I have lived in Cornwall for 30 years....where has that gone! and I can't imagine living anywhere else. My working life has been very varied from running an organic smallholding, gardening and garden design to owning and running a local cafe. If Cornwall teaches you anything it's how to be industrious and carve your own way through life. I am also a printmaker, some of my work features around the house.
louise todd purchased this Cottage in 2003
Why louise todd chose Saint Ives
Old Court Cottage is very characterful and quirky and very much my home, so if you're looking for a relaxed, homely environment then this is the place for you! If you don't fancy driving your car once you've arrived, you can walk to the beach, local cafe/deli and pub. Catch a train or bus to any of the nearby towns and beaches or just hang out and relax in the garden and house.

Quaint House, Shame about the location
House was clean and tidy but you would want to watch out if you were tall as very low beams and ceilings! Garden was lovely but not particularly dog friendly as no grass just pebbles and flower beds. The house is literally on the main through road to St Ives so pretty noisy and you want to make sure that the front door is shut at all times to ensure kids and dogs safe.
It is around 30 minutes walk to Porthkidney Sands Beach which is a beautiful beach and dog friendly all the year round. 5 minutes walk to Lelant Saltings rail station which takes you straight to St Ives in about 5 minutes.
Great Pub The Watermill Inn 5 minutes walk from the house serving great food and has a lovely large dog friendly garden.
I would recommend this property for couples but perhaps not for families with young children due to the proximity of the road and the distance to the beach and other facilities.
St.Ives is an incredibly popular destination and yes, it all gets pretty busy particularly during the summer months as it is the main artery in to the town. Being away from the hustle and bustle of St.Ives has previously suited other families that have stayed.
The pictures do show the location of the cottage, along with the garden and description which states there are just borders and paths. Also the height of the ceilings...it is a 16th century cottage and therefore one would expect the ceilings to be pretty low.
I'm glad you found the house clean and tidy, but sorry that you didn't find the cottage suitable for your family.
Wonderful house and garden
Very relaxing place to stay. House full of character and such tasteful decor. Garden full of colour and so restfull.
Ahhh, thanks Anne and John.
You were brilliant !! and it really was a pleasure to meet you both. Delighted you found it so relaxing, despite the rain and hiccup....
Go raibh maith agat
I came here with my husband and two small children. We had just got married and wanted a week away just the 4 of us. The cottage which was a first time stay was perfect. It had everything you would need, very cosy, clean and comfortable. The garden was gorgeous too.
The owner even made sure we had some milk in fridge and also a bottle of Prosecco which I thought was a lovely touch.
Up the road to the cottage is a lovely pub we visited on our first day and had a lovely lunch.
We visited St Ives which is very busy, but lots going on. Be warned the seagulls on this particular beach were very dangerous, we were all eating food and they just swooped down on us and grabbing food out of our kids hands.
Carbis Bay was a lovely beach to visit very relaxing we liked it here.
Went to Hayle to a Farm shop which was lovely had a gorgeous cream tea there too.
Kynance beach and a place for kids a tropical bird sanctuary.
Also a massive bonus we had glorious weather.
We had a fantastic time, great cottage and places to visit.
Would highly recommend coming back here to stay:)
Thanks again Louise x

Enchanted Cornish Cottage
We felt privileged to stay in such a special place. The cottage felt like our home for the week. It's beautifully decorated, with unusual features and artistic touches. The living room was light and airy with double doors leading to a gorgeous well established garden. In the evenings we lit the stove and felt very cosy. The kitchen is bespoke fitted with belfast sink and plenty of space for the whole family to join in with the cooking. The house is near to the coastal railway and public footpath to a number of stunning beaches. The owner Louise was so friendly, approachable and easy going with all our requests. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lovely home. Shelley, Brian and Richard
The title says it all. Old Court Cottage and its garden are quite literally stunning. The cottage is equipped to the highest standard; there was nothing that wasn't provided. Louise, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful and she provided a warm welcome after a long 400 mile drive! The location is perfect; for people with dogs a ten minute walk brings you to Porthkidney beach which is dog-friendly all year round, very quiet and very beautiful. A welcome retreat from the popular Porthminister and Carbis Bay beaches! Carbis Bay and St Ives can be reached easily on foot via the coastal footpath; St Ives is about 4 miles / 60 minute walk. For the less energetic, Lelant Saltings railway station is a two minute walk and there is a half hourly service to St Ives. I couldn't recommend the cottage and location enough; we have been visiting the region for many years and this is the best place we have ever stayed. We certainly intend to return to Old Court Cottage next year.

The property is conveniently situated on a main bus route with a bus stop across the road.
We are central to St. Ives, Hayle and Penzance with easy access by bus and train if you prefer not to drive.
There are many places of interest nearby covering a varied amount of interests. A tourist and local information pack are provided.
