At the centre of it all
If you want a location that is at the centre of Old Antibes, look no further than this property. With a location on Rue James Close, you are on a side street that still has a lot happening on it, be it in the form of cafes from which to grab the quintessential croissant and cafe au lait, boutique shops in which to purchase a gift or personal reminder of your holiday, or bistro style restaurants. You are also a very short walk from a wider selection of restaurants, shops and local markets as well as supermarkets, as well as to several museums and the seawall. Old Antibes has a very laid back, casual vibe and this property is in keeping with that feeling. You enter a very nondescript doorway and have to walk up three flights of narrow stairs to get to this apartment, so the first downside is that if you have mobility issues and easy access is important, this is not the place for you. The apartment itself is well laid out, with three bedrooms, two adequately sized ones on the main floor with a well stocked kitchen and a dining area, as well as a full bathroom. The roomy master bedroom is on the upper floor, where there is also a full bathroom and a casual living room. What really makes this apartment though, is the outdoor terrace, one big enough to house a six seater table as well as have room for two loungers, where we enjoyed al fresco breakfasts of croissants and pain au chocolat every morning, along with the odd charcuterie styled lunch. Small details such as beach mats, beach umbrellas and wine coolers left good impressions, as did the cleanliness of the place, the personalized welcome by the property manager and the offer of a private taxi service from and to the airport.
Downsides include the fact that along with being on the third floor of a building with no elevator, it is also located right above a restaurant, which luckily enough for us was only opened 2 of the nights we were there. However, we went in the shoulder season, so not sure if it does more business in the busier summer months. Being on a busier side street, there can be a fair bit of traffic at night but again, for the time of year we were there, that was not a major issue. If you like to sleep in however, you may find that a bit difficult, unless you can sleep in a room with the windows shut (there are fans), as I was woken early each morning to the sound of street cleaners, both mechanized and handheld brooms. That being said, would definately recommend.

The magnificent harbour and beach is just five minutes walk from the apartment and there are also several larger beaches a short stroll away.
