We arrived as a family of 9. The property agent was brilliant and really helpful. The kitchen was well equipped and all the appliances worked, including a brand new washing machine. Unfortunately, the patio door got cracked when one of our group banged into it by accident. The owner was very fair and the issue was resolved. The agent and owner were both concerned for our welfare first and foremost. The view is lovely and the outdoor areas mean there is virtually always sun/shade to be enjoyed. The pool area is beautiful. It’s one of the best pool areas I’ve seen abroad. There’s lots of space, amazing views and shade. The property is a 2 minute walk to the pool/play area. It was rarely busy (even in July/August) and this made our time all the more enjoyable. The pool and shared areas are also very clean. We would definitely return and would like to thank the owner and agent for their kindness and professionalism.
So much promise but sadly not true
We were fortunate to have been able to get to the property having not been informed there was a code to access the residence. The gate was opened by the car in front. Said gate malfunctioned later that day causing our car full of frozen food to melt as we waited in vain for a fix. Although this was nothing to do with the owner of the property it did start us off with a significant financial loss.
We were met by a nice chap who knew very little about the property. "I think the pool's down there". This was a pure key exchange with no input on what was available in the area, no Wi-Fi code info or anything. As it turns out none of the keys provided worked for the communal pool so that was a massive shame. They were solely for the front 3 doors and gate. We did eventually get a Wi-Fi code.
We chose this place for 2 reasons. We'd saved all year to afford it and bought the advertised WOW factor. This is certainly true but only for the view. The house was advertised as having air conditioning (I've just checked and it still advertises this). This was a high medical requirement for our daughter. There isn't any. Ceiling fans are not air con. This made her stay very uncomfortable and she ended up sleeping on the tiled floor in our room to keep cool with my wife monitoring her.
We had to clean the property when we arrived as there was black hair everywhere, including the plug holes. Not very nice. I later found out that this was because the owner had done a quick clean the week prior rather than the local property managers. Little things like someone's clothes hanging in the bathroom and the empty wine bottle left weren't exactly classy.
This property needs money invested in it. Doors missing from cupboards, wardrobes looking like they're about to collapse, washing machine that sounds like an airplane, microwave with warning stickers etc.
I doubt I'll get the chance to respond to the owner's reply to this so I'm slighly wary of all this being brushed away. I'd be very disappointed if I wasn't offered some form of refund given the falsely advertised air con issue, a sell of a dream that want there and lack of access to pool. This was our first holiday in 5 years and we felt disappointed and lied to.
I urge the owner to approach me outside of this forum should she wish to mate amends.
Thank you for raising your concerns . As a responsible land lord I take any concerns raised very seriously. As you can appreciate it is necessary to rely on local agents to ensure that the property is handed over to guests in a satisfactory state I have relayed the concerns you have raised to the agents. Prior to your arrival we exchanged emails in which you were provided with the contact number and details for the managing agents and the meeting time and place was agreed with you.
I can not explain how the gate malfunctioned as this has never happened before in many years of our having the property. The management of the urbanisation acted promptly and this message was conveyed to you personally.
You were provided with the keys for the property as there are only two doors and a small gate , the third key was for the swimming pool. As we heard nothing from you thereafter, about this issue ,the assumption was there were no issues.
In order to respect the privacy of the guests we do not contact guests after they are settled.
When you requested other information there was no mention of the Air conditioning. In the description of the property it is clearly said that mobile air condition units could be made available on request with extra charge. No such request was received.
The missing kitchen cupboard door had to be removed because of a broken hinge which was on order and now has been taken care of. The noisy washing machine has been replaced.
With all villa and houses wear and tear is part of life as long as safety is not compromised.
Its a shame the villa has given tremendous pleasure to so many others and would like to return back, could not really please you.
Excellent property with stunning views
We had a fantastic time in Gran Alicant. The property was spacious and well laid out.
It was worth renting just for the views of the Med from the balconies and patio.
I would say though that there is a steep road out of the Urb which would not suit anyone who has walking difficulties.
All in all, we had a great time and would definitely book again.
Thank you very much for appreciating the property and the views.
As you said the challenge is the steep road in and out of the urbanization for the people having walking difficulty. If you hire a car to go round the area and the villages around views in and out of the urbanization can be breath taking as well.
Thank you for your stay and your comments are very welcome.
5* villa with everything you need
This was our second stay in the villa and we loved it again. It’s spacious, has everything you need & the views both day and at night time are amazing. The pool was never busy and a lot of the time there was only us there which the kids loved. Local restaurants were good to eat in & we enjoyed the market on Thursday morning.
Your comments are very welcome. Thank you for your revisit and appreciating the villa with its breathtaking natural views. It does boost the morale.
Facility of the life guard in the peak season is an added bonus for the 2 pools
Some of the many attractions, a ride all around the town along with the beaches on the Tuc Tuc Train, walks to the Light House and its views around and visit to the local market on the doorstep adds to the holiday fun.
Visits during fiestas and then enjoying the fireworks in Alicante city and from the balconies after midnight is another wonderful experience which we invite you to have.
Perfect family holidays
We have really enjoyed our holiday in Gran Alacant, a perfect location with fabulous views. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking to visit Gran Alacant. The villa is spacious and has everything you could possibly need. The house has everything you may ask for to create a very pleasant vacation even for a large company/family as it is provided with a well-maintained kitchen, large outdoor and indoor dining areas, one bathroom per floor and of course a large terasse (balcony) with an extraordinary, breathtaking panoramic view and a comm pool. Upper bedroom is fantastic, provides wonderful views to the coast, but all other bedrooms are sizeable and well appointed.
The property is a good location from the airport and to the beach. The location to the local supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and bars is perfect.
The only problem was we did not want to go home at the end of it. It really was home from home and everything was perfect including all the facilities on site.
Can't wait to return and would have no hesitation in recommending this property to family and friends.
Thank you for writing this.

About Veena Raval
This is our retirement home. We have thoroughly enjoyed our frequent visits and stays here with our family and friends and also made lots of friends around. For a period of time we want to explore other parts of the world so we thought why not share our beautiful home with others too. We hope it will give you the same amount of pleasure what it has given to us over the years Look after it when you are here and if there are any short comings please tell us so that we can address them and the place can be improved for your next visit.
Veena Raval purchased this Villa in 2006
Why Veena Raval chose Gran Alacant
We fell in love with this property because of its views and its so central locations. For two years we must have looked around at least 50-55 properties and as we were looking for a spacious family home with real open sea views which of course would suit our pocket and not break our backs with heavy mortgage. We just could not resist when this came on the market. We saw it being built and then the fun of furnishing started. All purchases were local from Alicante. It has easy access to the main road N332 connecting to city of Alicante which is 15 kms. on one side and Torrevieja on the other with some very attractive townships on its way including a water park and other sea side locations with its beach front restaurants which is a fun to explore. In the summer months we spend most our time in the balconies. Our breakfast lunch and dinners are all in the balcony or the BBQ on the terrace. It has been fun chasing the winter sun and then the carport becomes favorite to have the chairs and the table there savoring the much appreciated warmth of the sun. My only regret is why did we not think of buying it much earlier. Area is quiet ,family orientated , friendly and very Spanish. It is located in a very Spanish urbanisation where majority of the people own their homes and are very proud of their ownership. They are friendly and helpful and a feeling of "at home " is imminent as soon as you reach there . The urbanisation is very well maintained. Safe and gated community with a night time guard gives you the satisfaction of your own safety and security at all times. From the outside the villa looks small and ordinary but as soon as you step in the views from the front room with the blue sea views will make you understand why we fell for it. The villa is spacious and I do mean spacious. Two families can easily share without treading on each others toes. Children can play inside or outside , enjoy the large TV lounge , go far swimming , cycling ,bowling tennis etc.
What makes this Villa unique
Warm temperatures, Sunshine, extra one hour of daylight really makes a lot of difference from the variable unpredictable weather in England. Once the grills are locked at night cross ventilation is superb and we really never needed the Air conditioning. Ceiling fans in all the rooms have been more than adequate. Alicante is a popular destination with plenty of flights from a choice of airlines & air ports in England. There are plenty of car hire companies on the airport with their competitive rates & the location of the house just being within 15 minutes from the airport has been a blessing. When we land at Alicante airport it seems all the stress of life just melts away. Once we reach home & open the balcony that BLUE SEA VIEW makes you hold your breath & the cool breeze is so refreshing. One has to experience it to cherish these pleasures. Central location is another advantage whether you want to be adventurce and explore the whole area and its beautiful beaches all around or want to take the advantage of the local transportation it is up to you. Entrance to the property is a steel hill and is a good challenge to the legs otherwise car is recommended. Local weekly market just near the entrance of the urbanisation is an advantage along with plenty of eating places around and a small British Supermarket which remains open for extended hours.. Local transportation buses etc are available from near the gates and also hourly Tuk Tuk train which takes you round the whole locality is always a fun. Walk to the Light House and its newly made view point is an added attraction and its still free. There is a road access too with the car and getting popular with kite flying and family picnics.Clean fresh air and clean surroundings all around are a bonus. If you are a cyclist flat road parallel to the coast line is popular with cyclists and is part of the route for marathon cyclists. As you can see i just love the place and every time I am there I discover something new.
