Cottage in Bakewell, Peak District, Derbyshire, England - Only A Few Minutes Easy Walk To Bakewell Town Centre
About Liz Hollingworth
We live in West Yorkshire and love Bakewell and our plan is to eventually retire to the area. In the meantime we wanted a holiday cottage we could enjoy as we like to walk and also like cycling. We also enjoy all the facilities that Bakewell has to offer which are within a few minutes walk of Peveril cottage.
Liz Hollingworth purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Liz Hollingworth chose Bakewell
We spent quite a few months looking for a holiday home and knew Bakewell was ideal. We love the countryside and the town centre has some lovely cafes and restaurants. We are enjoying the many walks in the area and love visiting the surrounding villages. We loved the cottage the minute we saw it and have enjoyed decorating and furnishing it.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage is very central to the town centre and yet very quiet. It is set back from the road and in a lovely position. It has off road parking which is opposite the front door.

Central yet quiet
Great location. Quiet and peaceful (all I ever heard was a dove coo), but just steps from the center of town. Nice kitchen, lots of cooking equipment. The king bed is firm and very comfortable. The owner is responsive and helpful.
Great cottage, great communication
Lovely time in Bakewell and area in cozy cottage. Liz was extremely helpful and responded almost immediately every time to my (many) queries. Thank you, Liz!
Great little cottage
We had a great time in Bakewell the cottage was perfect for what we wanted. It is well equipped and in a great location close to town.
satisfactory but overrated in beautiful location
The downpipe outside the back door is blocked with the result that bath water cascades onto the back wall and ground surface.
Duvets are very poor quality and insufficiently warm.
No vegetable strainer nor toast rack
Radio is very poor for modern times.
There is no radio in bedrooms.
Television reception very poor with constant and frequent picture and sound breaks.
Waste bin not provided for either plastic items or paper.
Beautiful place to stay
We loved staying in this property. It had everything we wanted and it was really comfortable for the 3 of us - 2 adults and one 12 year old. All the major things you would expect are there plus lots of useful little extras too. It was great to be that close to Bakewell and we walked down a number of times for the shops or to go out for a meal. I also went for 3 runs during the time we stayed and the views and routes available for running (or walking or cycling) from just setting off from the front door are magnificent. We found loads of days out we wanted to do, all within 30 mins drive away, and it was a question of choosing from lots of alternatives. In summary we loved the cottage and it's location. It was great to be so close to the town centre - and have a designated parking space. We have already recommended this place to someone and would happily come back again. Thanks
Thank you for your review. Pleased you had a good holiday.
Love the Peaks and this cottage
A lovely cottage near the centre of Bakewell and very quiet. Previous folk have mentioned the car parking issues - we had no problems but thankful that the entrance had been widened earlier in the year. A great place to stay :))
Thank you for your kind comments. Definitely better now the driveway entrance has been widened.
Approximately 30 minutes from the M1 (J29)
Bakewell has some lovely cafes, restaurants and public houses. There are supermarkets, chemists and a small swimming pool. A great position for visiting all parts of the Peak District. It is also only a short walk away to join the Monsal Trail.
