Party of eight adults
This was a fantastic area to stay in and we enjoyed our stay in the interesting old house which was very well equipped. We had a couple of issues: the bedroom arrangements were fine for adults and children but not ideal for 8 adults. A bit more prior cleaning in the downstairs bathroom would have been appreciated and we thought the garden space very relaxing but a little overgrown in places. Despite these reservations my party enjoyed their week.
This is a lovely property in the Sussex Downs. The cottage itself has great charm and the garden is wonderful. On the whole the cottage is very well equipped but the almost total lack of wine glasses mystified us. The owner was most helpful and responden quickly when we had a small problem with one of the keys. In sum, this property is highly recommended.
Charming cottage in a pretty Sussex village. Close to excellent walks and village pubs. Lovely secluded garden and lots to do.
Quaint and charming - a quintessential English cottage - quiet location and great for sightseeing
This quaint and quirky cottage was a delightful venue for our three night stay to welcome in the New Year. We successfully operated the AGA despite no previous experience and lit the wood burning stove without too many false starts. With the Christmas decorations in place, timber beams, low ceilings and a firelight glow, what more could you ask for at this time of year especially when accompanied by champagne or a winter warming ale! In the summer, I'm sure the experience will be just as good with the extensive back garden to enjoy. The property is well equipped and surprisingly large - full of strange and wonderful ornaments which caused much discussion (especially the crocodile candle holder proudly wearing red killer heel shoes!). The cottage was also well positioned for rambles either inland or coastal and local to Glyndebourne for opera buffs. The nearby and walkable village of Alfriston with its four pubs was wonderfully charming. So if you wish to escape to the country and get away from busy city places like Chelsea, then this would be a good choice albeit risky for those over six feet in height (keep ducking or pay the price!).
Cosy Cottage in the Country
Pond Cottage is a wonderful old cosy cottage in a quiet location, but ideally situated for lots of lovely walks and visits to towns of the South Downs. Clean and well furnished and equipped, home from home really. Jane was very helpful with our request (we took our little dog along who also settled in nicely). We thoroughly enjoyed our week there and would not hesitate to return if we travel to the area again.
Eastbourne Beachy Head Marathon Weekend
We found the cottage to be an excellent choice. The location was perfect for what we wanted to see & do. The cottage was very warm and cosy with plenty of space. The log fire was a great thing to have. The cottage was fully equipped with everything you could require. Their was tv and internet in most rooms if you required it. Their was a spacious garden at the back.
Would definitely recommend this cottage and will be looking to book again in the future at some point.
This is a much loved old house. Home to many generations it’s brought much comfort. I love it when my guests really ‘get ‘ it - and appreciate it. This particular guest was a joy to accommodate and I couldn’t recommend him more.
