Spacious, comfortable, well equipped, nice location but some minor niggles.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and liked the cottage. There were some niggles however.
We were somewhat taken aback by the requirement to supply a refundable £100 damage deposit on booking. We are regular self caterers and we have never been asked to pay one before. Nonetheless, it was repaid in full a week after our holiday.
The owners left us a very nice welcome pack which we appreciated. The cottage is very spacious, well equipped, generally clean and comfortable and is conveniently adjacent to the parking space. But minor niggles were:
1 The downstairs toilet door latch, lock and and light pull switch did not work properly. We noted that the door lock had been been reported in previous feedback and had not been fixed.
2. The bathroom basin hot tap was stiff to turn and it would have been convenient if the extractor fan would automatically switch off after a period. As it was the fan had to be switched on and off manually.
3. The outside of the upstairs windows was dirty and covered in cobwebs. The patio had a lot of discarded nut shells from previous occupants that had not been cleaned.
4. It would also have been helpful to have blackout blinds or much thicker curtains in the bedrooms as the existing curtains did not keep out the light at night.
Thank you Neil for taking the time to review. We are so pleased to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and found Tricklebrook Cottage, clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped.
Thank you also for your feedback - the cloakroom light pull-switch is fully working, and the extractor fan in the bathroom does automatically switch off after a period - unfortunately the timer appeared to have stuck/tripped during your stay but is now fully operational with the light switch.
We've already contacted you to explain that because of the nature of the development - set in 11 acres of gardens designed to actively encourage nature, wildlife, squirrels, butterflies, insects etc, (which are award winning in this aspect) - the cottages do suffer with a quick build up of cobwebs, especially to the outside of the cottages. As such we have the windows attended to every 3 weeks, the cycle due after your recent stay.
We note you weren't expecting to put forward a refundable security deposit. It's pretty much standard practice in individual privately owned self-catering properties - where the owner as you can appreciate doesn't have the financial buffer that the large self-catering companies such as Warner, Butlins, Center Parcs etc are able to bear in the event of costly damage caused by guests. As you said, your security deposit was refunded in full.
Once again, thank you for you valued booking, and we are so very pleased to hear you thoroughly enjoyed your stay at Tricklebrook Cottage. We hope to welcome you again.
Many thanks and with our very best wishes.
Lovely cottage and great for what we needed it for (family wedding).
The cottage was fine for a few nights stay however there were a few niggles that we would have reported if we were staying longer. The downstairs toilet door did not lock, the dimmer switch downstairs didn't work and the dining chair cushions were heavily stained.
On a positive note our journey down took double the amount of time than usual so the we were very grateful for the welcome pack, a cup of tea/coffee was just what we needed. Thank you.
Thank you Helen for your review. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Tricklebrook Cottage and that it suited your needs for a family wedding.
I have been to the cottage to check the issues you raised - so thank you for bringing them to our attention. The dimmer switch does in fact work - you press the switch in and then slide it up and down according to the dimming you require. We are guessing you didn't press the switch in, only slid it up and down. Same with the downstairs WC. You are correct, the dining chairs seat pads do appear that they may be stained - the water marks from constant cleaning using cleaning upholstery products could give the impression that they are stained. We are rectifying that so, thank you for bringing it to our attention.
We are glad that you enjoyed the welcome pack on arrival.
Once again, many thanks for the positive review and bringing "niggles" to our attention.
Wonderful break in beautiful surroundings
We had a wonderful time. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lovely welcoming refreshments left for us on arrival (ideal after a long drive). There were activities available if you were staying on the complex such as tennis, gym etc.. and very friendly and helpful staff. The surrounding areas were beautiful and we walked to the local beach a couple of times. We found a couple of pubs close by which served great meals. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars was because we were a little disappointed with the size of the pool. We would recommend the property to a friend or relative.
Many thanks for the lovely review. We really are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Tricklebrook Cottage and visiting Falmouth. We hope to welcome you again in the not too distant future.
Home from Home
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the cottage, which is situated in a well laid out holiday village, and was exactly as described on the website. There was a welcoming tray of goodies for us that included a bottle of wine. The accommodation was comfortable and clean and the kitchen well provided for. I was pleased to see that there was a dishwasher - who wants to do the washing up when on holiday! When I had a problem with the patio door lock (nothing wrong with the lock, just my ineptitude), one call to Mark and Helen and they sorted it out for us. The village is beautifully kept and is in a lovely setting. We didn't use any of the amenities in the village i.e. the restaurant or gym as we were down for a wedding and in town most evenings or cooked for ourselves. I would have no hesitation in booking the cottage again or to recommend it to others. As for the surrounding area - I never need an excuse to visit Cornwall, particularly the Falmouth area, as I was born and raised in the County. Full marks to Mark and Helen for making our stay a happy and comfortable one.
An excellent base
Thank you Helen & Mark, we found your cottage to be very high standard. We were surprised at how spacious the lounge /dinning area was. All of the bedrooms were a good size and very comfortable. The holiday village was very clean and quiet and we made good use of the pool, spa and steam room after a full day touring the beautiful countryside and coast. I can not recommend this cottage highly enough, it is in the perfect location for exploring Cornwall.
