Excellent property, location and Owners
We received a really warm welcome from Melanie and Alan and they were happy to help if we ever had any queries.It only took a call or email. The property is set in a beautiful area,so peaceful, with lots of Gaeden.There is a SuperU supermarket in the local village ,about 5 minutes by Car away and the property is close to so many beautiful beaches.
A very comfortable House, surrounded by Woods and Peace
Made very welcome by Alan and Melanie, who, after showing us around, left us to enjoy 2 weeks of Holiday.
The environment is relaxing, and restful, which allowed the "occasional" bottle of Red to be greatly appreciated. The walks clearly signposted around the area, house many Oaks, Beech, Birch and other types of tree's, there are many species of birds to be enjoyed.
The Beaches are amazing with Bars for refreshment for all ages, and miles to walk.
The owners were very friendly and helpful, easily contactable if needed, which we didn't, but also we felt that we were able to fully relax.
A highly recommended place to spend a Holiday.
A very comfotable stay.
We've taken care to use the word 'comfortable' because we consider it the best overall reflection of our stay. Having spent a month in the property 'feeling at home' was very important to us. The undoubted features of the house are;
1) Its location in very private grounds and in a woodland environment.
2) Its geographical location in this area of Brittany. We found this an interesting and attractive area and everywhere we wanted to see was within easy and close proximity.
3) The superb beach and facilities of Penhors were only a 12 minute drive.
4) The nearby village of Landudec (1.5 miles) offers a comprehensive supermarket with petrol outlet and the village also had a couple of small restaurants and bars.
5) Other first class restaurants were located with a 20-30 minute drive.
6) The nearby local camping park of Bel Air (0.5 miles) offered access to its small water park, boating lake, and outdoor amusements which meant an enjoyable day out for our visiting grandchildren.
7) The owners of the property actually live in the property when it is not let and that feeling of it being a home was evident. This is not a sparsely furnished holiday let, which so many properties are.
8) The owners, stay locally when someone is in residence, and could not have been more attentive to making our stay a comfortable one, but without being intrusive.
9) Important to us; the shower, was a shower, and there was always loads of hot water with great pressure.
Every property has a couple of less positive areas and for us these were;
1) There was no washing machine available to us. This became a major disappointment.
2) The Wifi was at best adequate and mobile phone signal was susceptible to drift due to the woodland setting.
Overall, this was a successful stay for us and we would recommend the property to others, but don't expect a first class luxury environment. This is a comfortable home, with creaking doors and floorboards and lots of charm.
Perfect place for a Finistere adventure
You could not wish for a more idyllic spot. In the words of the TV programme, Location Location Location...
This house is situated close to all that is best in Finistere. A 10-minute drive gets you to some wonderful sandy beaches and rocky coastline. It is within half an hour of picturesque towns such as Quimper, Audierne and Pont l'Abbe, while the delightful resorts of Concarneau, Benodet and Dournanez are within very easy reach. Not to mention the myriad of lovely Breton villages dotted around the area, waiting to be discovered. The house, with its large garden, is situated in stunning woodland offering relaxing walks, which our dog took an instant like to. Owners Alan and Melanie could not have been more friendly and accommodating, making our three-week holiday one of the best we have experienced.
We are so pleased you had a wonderful time and loved the house and the area as much as we do. We are glad that your dog had a great time too, it is a fantastic place for walks and enjoying nature. Thank you.
Our Stay 2013
We chose this property because it was in a quiet location and was fully kitted out. On arrival, we were greeted by Alan, shown the property and found every thing was as described. We had a great 2week stay here and would be willing to return at a future date.
What an absolute dream of a house and grounds. I had searched for months looking for the right house to rent for our stay in Brittany for myself, my husband and parents. I found many rentals quite sparse with the furnishings or too near the neighbours, not that we are unsociable but just wanted a relaxing peaceful week and this we got here. The picture really doesn't do it justice, you can't appreciate how big the gardens are and how quaint the house is inside.
The location is great, a couple of miles brings you to Super U supermarket where we found everything from groceries to lovely fresh meat and fish, places to eat and a petrol station. You have all the facilities to cater, BBQ, great cooking range in a lovely farmhouse type kitchen we absolutely loved everything.
Its a gem of a find we would have liked to have kept to ourselves but unfair for people not to have the chance to book it, we have shown our friends our photographs and some are already enquiring for next year. A wonderful holiday and a thank you to Alan for your warm welcome and local information.
It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed your stay and had a relaxing time with your family. We are so pleased you would recommend the house to your friends. This is our first year renting it out and it is good to know that people enjoy the house and area as much as we do. Many thanks.
