About Toby & Jane Cusworth
We bought Les Charmettes in 2001 and in 2012 we made significant improvements to the main house including a new kitchen and a downstairs shower room. We also built a bathroom onto the cottage and completely renovated the interior to make it into a self-contained holiday home. We continue to enjoy staying at Les Charmettes with our children, friends and relatives.

Why Toby & Jane Cusworth chose Erquy
We decided to buy a seaside house in a part of France that is easily accessible for long weekends as well as summer holidays. We fell in love with Erquy because of the wonderful coastal scenery, the fact that it has a working port and is not just a holiday resort and because the house itself has a lot to offer.
What makes this House unique
Les Charmettes has real character and the benefit of an enclosed garden. It is comfortable, spacious and ideal for family groups. For those who want a break from driving, its position in the centre of town means there are shops, bars, restaurants, the weekly market and several beaches within walking distance.

Spacious and comfortable property a stone’s throw from the beach
Despite a very late arrival on our first day we were met by the agent who showed us everything we needed to know to enjoy Les Charmettes. We were a party of 7 adults and 2 children and rented the cottage as well as the main house.
Both properties were well maintained and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped, the lounge and dining area were perfect for our large party and all bathrooms/showers were excellent.
Our big and small kids enjoyed the ping pong table, the games and toys in the house and the swings in the garden. The proximity to both the town centre and the beach made our stay easy and convenient.
This was a second trip to Erquy for some of us and visits to Fort La Latte, Val Andre, St Cast, Cap d’Erquy and Dinan completed what was the perfect holiday for us all.
Wonderful weather certainly enhanced our overall experience, with much time spent on the beach and a couple of trips out in a sea kayak from Plage du Centre.
We were very sad to leave after our week and wished we could have stayed longer!
Lovely & spacious, great location, nice games room, perfect for a large family
Great location, spacious , quiet down a cul-de-sac, near to Main Street, one street back from sea, perfect for us with 4 children.
Large rooms & good facilities lovely showers & nicely equipped kitchen
Thank you for your review and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Les Charmettes.
Excellent house for family group
The description was accurate in every respect. The house, games room and garden were all enjoyed according to the weather on each day and the closeness of town and beach were ideal. There were four adults and four children, ages 6-10, staying in the house with grandparents treating themselves to staying in the cottage thereby gaining another bathroom. We used the barbeque, had a take-away and ate in the garden several times, also visited a restaurant recommended by the owner. He was very helpful with the booking and answering questions, as was the local agent who welcomed us on arrival.
We didn't feel the need to go far as the beaches were the main attraction but we used our bikes to explore the immediate area. There's a good traffic-free cycle route, accessed by quiet roads in the town. We would certainly recommend it to friends and we would happily go again ourselves.
We found this property to be very comfortable and well appointed. It is in an ideal location, just a couple of minutes walk from an excellent beach and even closer to the main street of the picturesque town of Erquy.
The owner was extremely prompt and accurate in replying to our queries on the property and its facilities
We were very lucky in having non stop sunshine which allowed the grandchidren plenty of opportunity to enjoy the beach, but even if the weather had not been so kind there are many of interesting places to visit in the surrounding area. We would thoroughly recommend this property and location to any large family groups
Erquy has several beaches. The Plage du Centre is a few minutes’ walk from the house. The other beaches are only 10 minutes away by car. The town has both a sailing school and a diving school and during the summer months there is a boat from Erquy to the charming Ile de Bréhat. There are many other beaches within driving distance.
St Malo ferry and Dinan and St. Brieuc airports - approximately 45 minutes by car
Roscoff ferry - approximately 2 hours by car.
Caen and Cherbourg ferries - approximately 3 hours by car.
TGV - 30 minutes by car giving access to Rennes and Paris.
There are lots of things to do in Erquy and the surrounding area. As well as the beaches (some of which have summer clubs for children), the coastal footpath provides great walking. Lamballe is famous for horse breeding and there are lots of opportunities for horse riding. There are also several good golf courses in the area. Local places to visit include the Chateau Bien Assis and Fort la Latte on Cap Fréhel. Towns of interest include Pléneuf Val André and Sables d’Or les Pins; St. Malo, Dinard and the medieval Dinan are slightly further away. There are lots of bars and restaurants within easy reach and there is a local programme of music, dance and other cultural events throughout the summer. The Erquy market takes place every Saturday morning and is a definite must to visit.
