About Heather McAdam
South Lodge was our family home in Scotland for 8 years, during which time David's job has taken us to India, 2 years, Malaysia 3 years, Egypt 3 years, Netherlands 3 years and most recently Vietnam for 2 years. In 2013 we moved to a house in Maidens, two miles from Turnberry and David is currently an Independent Consultant Geologist in the UK.
Heather McAdam purchased this House in 2004
Why Heather McAdam chose Turnberry
The view, the view, the view and it is pretty handy for the beach and a game of golf!
What makes this House unique
The living space is open plan and there is a lot of it. The conservatory is a great place to sit if the sun is shining even in winter, the sitting room is very large with a large picture window to the front and side - everywhere you are you can see the sea and outdoors - and there is a separate dining area if you want a more formal meal, although the conservatory also has a large table.

Heather’s home is the perfect location to stay in South Ayrshire. The rugged landscape and remoteness gives a feeling of escapism. The beach is just across the road and the views from the house are stunning across to the iconic Turnberry Lighthouse, Ailsa CRAIG and beyond.
If you play golf then you’re in for a treat with some of the best on offer: Western Gailes, Dundonald, Links, Troon and of course Robert the Bruce and the number one Ailsa at Turnberry.
Heather and her son, Ross, looked after us and our little doggy exceptionally well. The house is cosy, whilst spacious, and well equipped for all your holiday needs.
We loved it ❣️
This was a really fabulous property in a great location and a beautiful garden. We had a lovely holiday here with family and enjoyed the house and the beach and all the surrounding area.
Only disappointments were that although there was a big kitchen it was not really set up for us to cook in as there were no basics like condiments or herbs, not even salt or oil in the house. Seems like no-one cooks here. I think future guests would appreciate some of these things more than the lovely plate of biscuits that you did leave.
Also some extra tea towels and other extra towels and sheets and some toilet rolls and cleaning stuff would be helpful. As we were coming from Montreal we could not bring any of these things with us and had to buy everything.
A set of oven gloves for Aga is a must as this led to a couple of people burning themselves. ( Aga took a very, very long time to heat up if you leave at 50degrees as per instructions so it was not very practical.) Thank you for at least leaving a few dishwasher tablets:-)
Holiday in June
Lovely spacious, comfortable property with great views to the sea. Beach was 5mins away across the road. Large enclosed front garden with smaller enclosed back garden suitable for our dogs. Cottage with the house was very useful as our party consisted of a family of 4 and a couple so ideal for the couple.
Excellent holiday home
We had a superb long weekend in this house. Really fantastic accommodation with great facilities and lovely big garden. Brilliant being able to look out to the water and just a 2 minute walk down to the beach. Would highly recommend.
Would love to return
Had an amazing weekend.. beautiful house.. everything we needed.. very comfortable home from home.. will definitely be back

For Walkers Ayrshire Coastal Path is just a 100 yards from the door and there are numerous walks up Drumdow Road to the surrounding villages.
Ayrshire seems to becoming a bit of a mecca for cyclists. South Lodge has a locking shed for bikes and drying facilities if it happens to rain!
500 meters from beach
50 miles from Glasgow International Airport, 25 miles from Glasgow Prestwick and 70 miles from Edinburgh Airport. A car is recommended.
