What makes this House unique
All our properties offer a peaceful location, privacy and comfort. There are many woodland and coastal path walks. We have also created a mountain bike & walking trail that meanders throughout the estate and a skills park.

Overall lovely cottage in great location. Really enjoyed our stay (shame about the weather). Only slight quibble, when 7 people staying could do with more cutlery. Always have to wash up!
The pictures don't give it justice - much more attractive when here! Beautifully prepared.
A fairly late booking and therefore not a huge choice but absolutely delighted with the place - definitely a winner! Very well equipped, beautifully prepared and immaculately clean, the views are spectacular even on an East weekend when the weather was against us. Someone either has extensive experience of holiday letting or genuinely cares about the needs of customers - very probably both 🙂. Remote(ish) and private but within easy reach of Bridport (having a wide range of shops) and a good range of beaches. Saw several deer and multiple pheasants while walking the dog around the tracks and roads local to the house so very dog friendly. The bedrooms are all large and very comfortable, as are the bathrooms which come complete with robes for the run to the hot-tub - far better than most with some really powerful jets - just the job for waking up in the morning! All in all highly recommended and we plan to return when the weather improves - just hope it's not booked...
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely and detailed review! We are glad to hear you had a great stay which exceed your expectations, I will pass your comments onto the team. Hopefully we can welcome you back to Symondsbury Estate in the future.
A perfect family holiday home
Axen Lodge is only 10 minutes from Bridport and 5 minutes from Symondsbury but it is surrounded by beautiful farmlands with staggering views. The Lodge has a large garden and the house has all you would expect from a comfortable, laid back boutique hotel. We were a party age between 2 and 70 and a large dog! It was perfect for us.
Thank you for your lovely review! We are so glad that Axen Lodge suited your needs, we look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to Symondsbury Estate.
The Jurassic Coast is a 10 minute drive away with beautiful beaches and cliff top walks including West Bay, Eype Beach, Seatown and Charmouth. On the beaches there is plenty of opportunity for fossil hunting. Dogs are welcome all year on Eype Beach. Lyme Regis beach is the main sandy beach in the area (the sand was bought over from France!) and takes approximately 15 minutes to drive too.
Exeter Airport 45 minute drive. Bournemouth Airport 1 hour drive away. Bristol Airport 1 1/2 hours drive away.
Axen Lodge is 2 miles from Symondsbury Village with a local pub, school and church and the local landmark Colmers Hill is definitely worth a walk to the top to see the spectacular views.
Bridport Market Town is 3.5 miles away with markets on both Wednesday and Saturday and a Vintage market on Sunday.
For all Mountain Bike enthusiasts, we have built a trail and skills area/bike park around The Estate for our guests to use, available for all ages and abilities.
Bridport boasts numerous individual shops as well as Waitrose, Morrisons and Lidls. Bridport is famous for being a 'foodie' heaven with fantastic restaurants, bistros and tea rooms. There are plenty of artist studios to visit and galleries. The popular market on Saturday and Wednesday offer both local produce for sale as well as antiques and bric a brac.
