About Norberta Garcia
I am Norberta Garcia, but feel free to call me Tita. I have lived in Granadilla for almost 60 years. Being involved with all aspects of the social and cultural life of this village means I am a great source of local knowledge! I am incredibly sociable and truly happy to answer any questions you might have and offer recommendations or make introductions to other local business owners or residents. Feel free to message me for more details on my cottages or with any specific requests – which I always try and accommodate!
Norberta Garcia purchased this Cottage in 1960
Why Norberta Garcia chose Granadilla
For an authentic Canarian experience away from the overcrowded and tacky tourist areas. I have properties in other parts of the island, but I make Granadilla my permanent home. It is quiet, quaint, friendly and truly beautiful. It is also easily accessible by car and public transport alike – having a great bus station within connections to all popular destinations (e.g. El Medano, Santa Cruz, Las Americas, etc.)
What makes this Cottage unique
Original architectural integrity. Beautiful gardens I enjoy maintaining myself – and guests can use for a bit of “horticultural therapy”! A lifetime of dedication to the property my husband and I inherited almost 50 years ago. And if, after fully reading my property profile you are still unconvinced, stay at this cottage because knowledge is priceless: I have invaluable local knowledge. Also, for unmatched hospitality.

A lovely and tranquil modernised Canarian cottage with a fantastic flower-filled patio outside and huge rooms inside. For example, the bedroom has two three quarter size beds in it and there is still loads of space. There is also an upstairs reading room, an enclosed sunbathing area, and another huge rooftop sunbathing/dining area. Hiring a car is recommended as the property is at the top of a fairly steep hill.
It's a 20 minute downhill walk to the local Mercadona supermarket and bus station.
Lovely cottage with beautiful garden area.
Cottage is rustic with large kitchen, dining, lounge area. We were in Casa 2. Cooking facilities are basic with just 2 hobs & microwave but apart from that, the rest of facilities are ok. We had no hot water for a few days, which was eventually fixed. There's a decent sized bathroom with shower over bath and a big bedroom with 2 double beds. The rooms are quite dark. There are a couple of heaters - evenings can be cold.
The garden is enclosed and very attractive, it's a great area to sit, eat, drink, sleep etc. there's also a small conservatory to sit in, a roof terrace for sunbathing or drying washing and a BBQ area. There's another cottage opposite which was occupied for some of the time we were there. Tita the owner lives in the house adjacent to the cottages.
The cottage is up a narrow street on the edge of the town in quite a nice area. Granadilla is a small town and is nothing special, so if you're looking for a pretty village or historic town, look elsewhere. Granadilla does have plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
I would recommend a car, there are plenty of walks and places to visit either on the coast or up the mountain and if the weather is cloudy you can just drop down to the coast ( 30 mins), where it is usually sunny. There's a small parking area on the street near the cottage, or there are 2 car parks within a few minutes walk.
We stayed for 2 weeks in March and really enjoyed ourselves. Tita was lovely and very helpful - muchas gracias !
Quaint, characterful cottage, great outdoor space
We stayed for a month and were very comfortable and happy in this lovely old property. In January the evenings and early mornings were quite cool - and it was lovely to have heating options. Good shower and hot water. The location was ideal for us. Near (enough) by car or local bus to the beaches and busy areas; but far enough away to get a sense of ‘real’ Tenerife. Very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. At night it was incredibly quiet. Mrs Garcia is a delightful and respectful host. We enjoyed all our interactions with her. This property and ‘set up’ is something special. I have returned intending to recommend to my friends / family.
lovely quite place for relaxing away from tourism
We had have a really good time in this Little Cottage. Everything was great. we arrived in middle of the night and it was no Problem, it was a really warm welcome. At this place we could sit on a lot great places to chill and all around were flowers and sun. Great! In the town you can get what you want and you can go with car to very nice places. You take part on the spanish life and not so much on the mainstream tourism. Thanks for such nice Holidays!
delightful and spacious
Located high up in the old town on a quiet street, entry into the property is via a delightful courtyard with dozens of plants meticulously tended by Mrs Garcia, who lives on-site. Rooms are spacious and comprehensively and thoughtfully equipped; the wifi works well, bed is large and comfortable. Guests also have access to the whole roof space which also includes a barbecue, sun room and large terrace with views to the ocean. Round the corner is the local gofio mill, and in town - 10 mins walk - is a very good Mercadona supermarket, which even has a fresh fish counter. Driving to and parking at the property seems daunting at first - narrow and steep streets with labyrinthine one way system, but it was fine and we always managed to park just round the corner. Ideally located to explore the whole island. If you are thinking trying the climb to the top of Mt Teide you must book ahead a Permit from the National Park website (it's free but they strictly limit the numbers), and it's also well worth booking your cable car ticket on-line too.
Oasis I. The middle of a rural town
Beautiful clean little cottage with very comfy beds. Kitchen and lounge area OK small but adequate. Lovely gardens
TRAVEL: Tenerife South Airport (Aeropuerto Reina Sofia) is only 7.1 miles from our cottage. This international airport offers a variety of car hire services – please contact us for our personal favourites!
COAST/BEACH: We strongly recommend you visit the seaside town of El Medano (7.1 miles), which boasts of having the largest natural beaches of Tenerife. If you would rather have quiet beaches mostly popular with the locals and the opportunity to practice your favourite water sport then El Medano is the place for you.
NATIONAL PARK: You simply cannot visit Tenerife and not take a trip up to El Teide National Park (23 miles). Named World Heritage Site in 2007, the National Park is the most famous landmark in the Canary Islands and there you can find El Teide, an active volcano (the highest mountain in Spain). Take a cable car to the top and enjoy the truly breath-taking views of the island of Tenerife and the other surrounding Canary Islands.
CAPITAL CITY: Spend some time in Santa Cruz, the capital city. Located on the northeast cost it is a bustling city and shipping port (one of the busiest in Spain and deepest in the world). The enormous harbour holds many container ships, cruise liners and inter island jet foils and ferries. Situated in a large natural bay, it has a stunning backdrop of mountains (Anaga Mountains) that are over 1,000 metres high.
FURTHER DETAILS: After booking with us, we will send you our Welcome Pack which contains information on places of interest in the island of Tenerife. Additionally, if you are interested in biking, climbing, trekking, windsurfing, etc. we can put you in touch with local outdoor activities companies which can arrange these for you! Any other queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are here to help answer any of your questions.
