Newly renovated Algarvian farmhouse set in 4 acres of it's own verdant grounds, surrounded by lemon, olive and carob trees. Abundant wildlife, birds and flowers all around. Set near the Asseca Valley but ten minutes drive of Tavira and several stunning beaches in the Ria Formosa National Park. Close to award winning golf courses. Ideal for families, couples or groups, cyclists, bird-watchers etc. Completely unoverlooked. Taxi fare to Tavira 8-10 Euros. This is a very beautiful area which has not been spoiled by mass tourism like many of the resorts in the western Algarve.

About Mark

We are retired teachers with a love of Portugal spanning forty years and have lovingly restored this old farmhouse over the last few years. We hope you will be come and visit and able to enjoy a little bit of paradise in the Algarvian sunshine!

This is a family home and we are of the opinion that it is cosy and welcoming

The area and coastal towns are essentially Portuguese by nature and we would suggest you use a vehicle to do justice to it

Why Mark chose Santo Estêvão

We love how unspoilt and characterful Eastern Algarve is and find local people very friendly and charming. The house is peaceful yet accessible to all of the wonderful sights of the Algarve - beaches a plenty and lots of fantastic traditional restaurants to enjoy fresh seafood etc.

Local people are very friendly and the bars and shop in the village are very handy as is nearby Tavira, a very historical and charming seaside town, with lots of things to do and see. Tavira is considered to be " the jewel of the Algarve" by many travel guides

What makes this villa unique

If you are looking for relaxation and a rural hideaway this is your best bet! A short walk from local village bars and a well-stocked shop and a few minutes from St Estevao - try 'O Forno' or 'Luis dos Prego' restaurants nearby for delicious authentic Portuguese cuisine. Ideal for cycling in the National Park Rio Formosa and local rural lanes and tracks, marvellous setting for birdwatching/ nature

Terracotta tiled throughout with oriental rugs. all opening windows have modquito netting Books and games available to use in house. CD player/radio/Ipod dock. Large stainless steel fan. Flat screen television with DVD player. Oil heater if needed. Outside: Surrounded by natural meadows with mature trees, carob,almond, orange, lemon, olive etc. Gravelled seating areas to all sides. Barbecue, garden furniture, patio loungers, shady and sunny rest areas, outside lighting to all sides of property. Completely un-overlooked to all sides. Utility Room: Pumphouse containing parasol, additional garden furniture, buckets and spades etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels provided.

Beautiful farmhouse in a lovely quiet location

We had such a gorgeous time staying in this beautiful, clean, comfortable farmhouse set in private grounds and a lovely quiet location. Easy walk to the local shop for provisions and a very short drive away from Tavira and all its attractions. We cannot recommend this property enough, it was a fantastic holiday, so relaxing and romantic!

The house was lovely and well equipped in a peaceful location close to beaches.

We stayed here for six weeks and the house was lovely and generally well equipped, although the sun umbrellas and loungers were broken so we could not use them to chill out at the house. This was a pity as the weather was of course great. We got round this by going to the local Chinese shop to buy a couple of cheap chairs to sit in, which was fine as we had a car and did not fly in. And I am sure Mark the owner will be looking to replace the broken chairs ready for future visitors.

Mark himself as host was great and very helpful. When we lost electric one day we had to call him and he guided us through how to get it back on. Ditto the dishwasher on another occasion and the internet. So all good and a lovely break from building works at home and a chance to visit what for us was an unknown part of the world.

We had a great holiday! Wonderful house, very quiet!

We where traveling with 6 people, and it was perfect to have 2 bathrooms (and 3 sleeping rooms).

The house is equipped with really everything you need!!

It feeled like home from the first day.

We had over 30 degrees outside, but the house is good isolated and it was cool enough inside.

We had nice contact with the owner and Sandra, which gave us the keys and showed us everything.

You should have a car (or maybe a bike), there is only a lovely little shop nearby (which you could reach by a 15 minute walk).

To travira it takes 10 minutes by car.

We would recommend this house to our best friends and we hope to come back next time!

Mehr als ein Ferienhaus

Sehr gastliches, unkompliziertes Heim, dessen wohnliche Ausstattung über das Maß eines typischen Ferienhauses hinausgeht. Man merkt, dass dem Vermieter das Wohl seiner Gäste am Herzen liegt. Riesiges, ruhiges Grundstück, dessen südliche Flora den Mitteleuropäer begeistert, ebenso wie die überbordenden Zitrusplantagen ringsum. Gute Erreichbarkeit der Strände, der Nationalstraße und der Autobahn Richtung Westalgarve und Spanien. Diverse Einkaufsmöglichkeiten für Lebensmittel nahe Tavira, ca. 10 min.

Einziger Nachteil: etwas zu intensive Kontaktaufnahme durch sympathische und sehr anhängliche Tiere (3 Hunde und 1 Esel) der Nachbarin. Kann sicherlich im Hinblick auf zukünftige Aufenthalte im Vorfeld geregelt werden. Vor Ort mahlen die Mühlen etwas langsamer...Die Betreuung durch die Verwalterin am Ort ist im übrigen sehr herzlich!
