About Sue Thompson
We love the countryside and helping others to enjoy it as much as we do. We purchased the property in 1987 and have modernised it throughout without losing the Victorian/Edwardian charm. Only 8 miles from Lincoln city gives a great base for shopping, sightseeing or family get together. We aim to make your stay perfect. We live close, but not too close at hand and we are available to assist in any way we can.
Sue Thompson purchased this Farmhouse in 1980
Why Sue Thompson chose West Lindsey District
Rural location, far from the madding crowd and yet very close to all major road links. Nearest City 8 miles. Abundance of wildlife and panoramic views across the county.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Loads of space and very comfortable both inside and out. Large house, plenty of rooms, 36' kitchen/diner and play areas. Ring fenced, safe garden of 1/2 acre, mature and safe (no ponds). Responsible pet owners welcome ( arrange at booking). Stables, grazing, outside kennels all available by prior arrangement.
It was a spacious farmhouse in a rural setting. Very peaceful!
The cottage was clean and spacious. The kids enjoyed having the pool table in their massive bedroom! Having the huge dining table in the farmhouse kitchen was a bonus for our large family.
Thank you for your kind comments, it was a pleasure having you.
It was very relaxing. The place was so calm and quiet.
The property was big enough to accommodate 11 people. Loft room was the kids favourite place. Also front and back garden was safe and kids friendly.
Thank you for your time and effort in giving a review.
It was a pleasure to have you & your family stay and was lovely to hear the children enjoying themselves.
You are welcome back any time.
Rather a mixed bag
The house is huge & warm & in a lovely quiet area, we saw lots of hares & an owl & the stars were very bright as no light pollution. But. It was pretty grubby thoughout with bits of food stuck to the bin, old sweet wrappers in the log basket attracting ants & a lot of the crockery needed washing before use. It has lots of some things such as tea plates but is lacking in basics - lamps with no bulbs, no bins or toilet brushes in two of the loos, no information on recycling, no bread knife. We asked for a better tin opener & were told no one uses them anymore! The advertised welcoming tea & coffee was one single sachet of each & the milk wasn’t there at all. Good job we always come prepared. The local information is years out of date. Some of the sofas are ripped. We also struggled with the tv & wi-fi, we weren’t too bothered by this but it might be a nuisance for some people. It’s a great house in so many ways but feels sadly neglected, it would only take about £40 at Wilkos to kit it out to a standard that you’d expect in a holiday cottage. And a damn good clean - I used to manage cleaners, if any of my cleaners had left a place in that state they’d have got a right rocket. Basically, we had a great time & enjoyed the space, the log fire & the area but it felt more like a youth hostel than a relatively pricey country cottage. Maybe the owners have lost interest in renting it out or aren’t quite in touch with the standards that people expect these days. Would be absolutely fantastic for a large group with lots of kids so don’t be put off but do go prepared.
We fail to understand why despite being asked on numerous occasions if all was well and being available right next door, why you would save up complaints such as these. If something is not to your liking why not say so at the time so that it can be remedied? You couldn't find the wine opener, so I came and showed you. I would have shown you the bread knife had you asked! We also lit the log burner and provided firelighters, dishwasher tabs on request. Had you required any other items at all, or anything was not satisfactory to your exacting standards, you just had to ask. As for the personal attack we consider this completely uncalled for and extremely rude!
Lovely House perfect for a relaxing stay
This farmhouse is well equipped for 10 people . Added charm was the log burner and the massive farmhouse kitchen . Pool table which entertained the adults and extensive gardens for the children to run around in . All bed linen and towels were included and the bedrooms are large and bright .
