House in Easkey, Sligo, Ireland - Peaceful Location, Yet Just 2 Minutes To The Sea And River At Easkey.
About Miriam Carnegie
I am married with five children, aged between 4 and 14. I have recently moved home and currently live on the family farm with my husband and family. I work on the farm where we milk a herd of Holstein Dairy cows and also are tillage and potato farmers.
Miriam Carnegie purchased this House in 2000
Why Miriam Carnegie chose Easkey
We built our property and moved in 2000. We lived here for 10 years until we moved to the family farm. We built the house with a view to having a rental property when this time came. The house is located on a site that is not part of the farmland.
What makes this House unique
Cornerstones is a comfortable one storey property which is floored throughout with pitch pine floorboards. The kitchen cum livingroom is at the centre of the house which has a stone inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. Off the kitchen there is a separate sitting room and dining room. There are sofa beds here for additional accommodation .There are three bedrooms. The main bedroom has an en suite which has a power shower. Bedroom two and three share a large oom. This also has a direct from the mains shower and bath.Bedroom two has twin beds and bedroom three has a double bed. There is a large hot press with ample towels and bedding. We are a family of 7 that acknowledge the needs of families. The house is built on 3/4 acre with mature garden and enclosed patio.

Super stay in sunny sligo
What a wonderful home to stay in with a young family.. Kids just had so much fun here in the fantastic space and hiding places this idyllic property had to offer.. And when kids are happy so are the parents. 😊.. Easkey is a wonderful place to enjoy the simple things.. that matter most 😍
Beautiful House + Charming Host
We can't rave enough about or stay at this Luxury home. The layout is extremely comfortable with 3 living areas all with their own fireplaces. The kitchen is well stocked to meet any needs for cooking or baking. Best of all, the host, couldn't be more friendly and helpful.
Had a wonderful time in Easkey
Thanks Miriam - the home was very welcoming and terrific location.
Very misleading! Anything but luxurious.
On arrival at the property we were met by Andrew who let us in and showed us the heating controls, he proceeded to tell us that we would be paying for the oil and electricity before we left, which were both meter read. We were not informed of this at time of booking that this would be the case as it said in description that heating was included! The property was stunning from the outside and just as described, well apart from, 'fully enclosed garden', lucky we had a windbreaker with us to close of a gap at side of house to keep our 2 dogs from getting out onto the road. Our first impressions inside were that it wasn't very clean. If there had been a hoover we could have sorted that out. Very poor selection of cooking utensils, ie, frying pan with no handle. 6 knives and forks. And the property supposed to cater for 10 occupants. Kitchen area dark and we had to keep lights on (those that had working bulbs) most of the time. Beds were clean but not very comfortable, children couldnt sleep, too hard. We lit the stove and were nearly smoked out, smoke escaping from chimney behind stove, not very safe. WC just of the utility area, no water at sink to wash hands, unhygenic. Wooden toilet seats in 3 toilets, wouldn't stay upright for the males in our party, also cracked and split, (haven for germs to breed). Tumble dryer with no knob, couldnt be used! Overall garden great size for kids and dogs. Lovely looking property from outside, big disappointment inside and could certainly do with a lot of improvement. Never saw Miriam for the 2 long weeks we spent there, not even to ask if everything was ok. We have been holidaying these past 15yrs as a family and I'm sorry to say this has been the worst place to date.
Sharon. You were met by my husband who is also the property owner as I was also on holidays. He welcomed you and went through the running of the property. I dispute your allegations and you should note that yours is the first negative review we have had and we have had in excess of 20 excellent reviews !
With regard to the bulbs and lighting, all light fittings are checked before new guests arrive and there are spare bulbs left in case a bulb blows in the interim. The cutlery drawer is fully stocked and I do not know why you would say that it isn't. The toilet seats are not cracked and are changed if there were to be a breakage. There is water in the taps in the WC and there always has been. The stove does not smoke and there have been fires in it before and after your stay.
With regard to the beds and your allegations that the children could not sleep, I can only say that this is the first time since I have starting doing holiday lettings that I have been told this. This is our sixth year !
Furthermore, you will note from the website that the patio is enclosed.
Regarding the light and heat, it is normal practice that the light and heat are metered. the reasons why should be obvious. These charges are passed on at cost..... and designed to deter wastage. Can you imagine the cost implications if the heat was left on 24/7. The meters are read before and after our guests. The rental price reflects this ..... We do not have hidden charges and do not deceive our guests in any instance. I am also surprised and concerned that you did not raise any of the issues you had while you were stayed with us. I will apologize for the tumble dryer knob which was broken before your stay but the machine has since been changed. I regret that you did not enjoy your time in Sligo but your scathing review is untrue and unkind.
