About jo culf
We have owned Dickens Walk Cottage since 2007, and have equipped it as a holiday home that we enjoy using. In 2012 we refurbished the property in a modern cottage style. We bought the cottage as a bolt hole, somewhere to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life in a city, and use it as a place to recharge and refresh our bodies and mind, finding inspiration in simple pleasures such as; rockpooling, swimming in the sea, long windswept coast walks, eating fish and chips on the beach, meeting friendly people, buying food from the local baker, the butcher, the greengrocer.....

Why jo culf chose Broadstairs
Living in London, its easy access and sense of 'getting away from it all' makes Broadstairs our favourite place to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Our favourite day features a long beach walk, fish and chips al fresco or lovely lunch out, reading or playing games in the afternoon and in the evening curling up on the sofa watching a movie with a Thai takeaway or simple home cooked supper.
What makes this Cottage unique
"Why do you love Broadstairs so much?" is a question I get asked often. The answer is, each season has so much to offer: In Summer - The Guardian voted Broadstairs one of the best seaside towns in Britain and we agree. We now have a small child, and he loves being on the beach. Dickens Walk Cottage is ideally situated two minutes walk from Viking beach and two minutes from shops and restaurants. Spring and Autumn - The Viking trail (cycling/walking) and coastal walks are on your doorstep. Margate’s rejuvenated Old Town and the Turner Contemporary is worth a visit. Broadstairs historic streets are a joy to wander around, a picturesque place to get away from it all. Winter - Dickens Walk cottage is warm and cosy in winter, making it the perfect place to retreat.

Lovely little cottage
The property is very convenient for the beach and the town. It is clean and well kept and has everything you would need for a short break.
Only the second time we have stayed in a private property and we were pleased with its location - just as easy to get to as promised. It was very clean and fresh smelling, not to mention a comfortable bed !! Lovely soft towels provided, too. Although the view from the window was a hedge on the other side of Dicken's Walk, just stick your head out of the door and there was the sea. About 20 paces brought you to the railings overlooking the Bay. beautiful!! We were not worried about the fact that there was no conventional oven - the microwave and hob sufficed when we weren't eating out. Parking is quite difficult and expensive in Broadstairs, so to alleviate all the worry of finding somewhere to park, we went on line to JustPark and rented a private house's drive for six days - security camera and all. We had a lovely sunny week and our evenings were spent with Netflix and Jo's DVD collection. Magic. Thank You.
This was our second time staying in this cosy cottage. Great location with everything we needed. I am sure we will come again.
Lovely comfortable stay and very central
Enjoyed a lovely weekend here. Fully equipped, clean and has everything you need plus it’s central to shops and close to the beach. Lovely:)
A delightful cottage in a perfect location.
I stayed a couple of nights in this lovely cottage. Very clean, comfortable & tastefully decorated. Perfect for the beach & all amenities. A lovely surprise finding a bottle of wine in the fridge along with the milk. Nice touch.
The owner Jo is very helpful & nothing is too much trouble. She sent out all the information I needed well before arrival. Thank you Jo - I will return!!
It was a pleasure having you stay. I look forward to your next visit.
Fab location, cosy cottage
Second time that we have stayed and we would again. Everything you need, nice and clean and great location. The host Jo is very flexible. Key code entry makes it easier for us as we tend to arrive late evening after a commute.
Special interest holidays:
The Viking trail (walking and cycling) is on our doorstep (50 feet away).
2 minutes walk to be on Viking beach.
20 paces to the promenade which overlooks the beach.
20 paces to cafe overlooking the beach.
Viking beach is a family friendly safe bay with lifeguards, donkey rides, Punch and Judy and other kids activities in season.

There are several farm shops around, and if you want large supermarkets (Sainsbury's, Asda, Tesco and Co-operative), more shops and multiplex cinema, they are available at Westwood Cross 2.5 miles away.
