Casa Margo is a typical rural stone and tiled Catalan house, in Pelacalc Hamlet, originally part of a farm, with part of it dating back hundreds of years. It has been restored lovingly, with arches and exposed beams fully retained, and with decoration and antique furnishings carried out to a high standard. The house is spacious, comfortable and cool in summer. The house is only one of about a dozen in a small attractive (mainly farming) hamlet. Lanes stretch out in all directions, ideal for walking - on level ground - and cycling. Bicycles are provided.
Bedrooms - Double with ensuite shower/toilet; Second bedroom with single bed and mezzanine with further single bed. Third landing bedroom, single. Sleeps 5 max. Bathrooms - Family bathroom upstairs (bath/shower), ensuite shower as described above and toilet downstairs.
Kitchen - with oven, washing machine, all amenities (toaster, kettle etc) all pans, cutlery as per a home kitchen and tea/condiments etc.
Living Spaces - Downstairs large room with seating, sofa and further atmospheric dining area, more casual dining table in the kitchen. Upstairs very large sitting room with sofas and easy chairs, cable TV (access to UK channels), lots of books in English and Spanish.
This is a well cared for home away from home.
Outside - Patio space which catches the sun, with garden furniture and olive tree for shade.
Parking just behind the house in the square.
Nearby villages remain untouched by tourism and hold a bygone charm. The nearest village Villadamat has a decent grocery shop. L'escala is the nearest town which mixes the feeling of an old fishing port with a more boutique holiday
destination - there is a range of excellent restaurants, bars, shops and amenities.
There are lots of lovely beaches wishing a 10 - 20 drive. Including Sant Marti with its historic Greco/Roman ruins and pine lined bays and Montgo a protected cove with little restaurants and beautiful snorkelling as well as activities for children.
In the area are great villages and towns for day trips. Including Dali's birthplace Figueres, Cadaques a beautiful seaside destination and the national park of Cap Creus. Lots of the villages and towns celebrate various festivals throughout the year, particularly the summer and are worth joining in.
