About Adrian Greevy
We are the typical couple that for years have considered living in the sun. We finally did something about it in 2011 when the opportunity to take six months off work in 2012 came about. We searched for the right location and although we live in rural Somerset we opted for a town, much to our own surprise. Stayed from July to January and wanted something special and to see the heights of summer and depths of winter. Needless to say we were not disappointed and found the people of Tavira to be nothing but helpful and friendly. We now are able to share part of that experience with others .
Adrian Greevy purchased this Apartment in 2011
Why Adrian Greevy chose Tavira
We bought the apartment after two years of searching starting in the west of the Algarve and covering all the way to the Spanish border. For us Tavira has the best mix of Portugal and holiday destination. with all the beaches, golf, countryside and amenities close to hand yet without the in your face side of tourism. Tavira is an old colonial type town but with a modern shopping plaza, a multi screen cinema showing all the latest releases in English and is part of the Ria Formosa Natural park with sandy barrier islands and lagoons. It has something for everyone from bird watching to kite surfing.
What makes this Apartment unique
The property is in a small block of eight new build apartments built in a colonial style on the site of an old smoke house. It is in a quiet location with "normal" Portuguese houses and families in the same lane. The block itself is in the centre of the town near the " bishops square" where all the best alfresco eating is found in it and the surrounding cobblestones lanes. The roman bridge is about 3/400 metres away crossing the river gilao. If eating in is your thing then there are a number of supermarkets, an English butcher and numerous bakeries within strolling distance plus the large fish and vegetable market where all the freshest produce can be found.the bicycles make it very easy to explore the surrounding area as there is a coastal cycle track that will take you to other villages.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.

Lovely property, very central, extremely focused and responsible owners, Adrian, thank you for everything. We definitely recommend this property, extremely quiet location yet a couple of minutes (I mean a couple of minutes) walk from the centre of Tavira. The apartment is equipped with absolutely everything. Irene and Kevin
Tavira - First Visit
Apartment was great. Very neat and tidy with everything you could need, including beach towels. Adrian met us there and explained everything too us. The apartment is in a very quiet street with little or no traffic passing, but only a few mins walk to the local shops, markets, bars, cafes & restaurants. Tavira is a lovely place to visit, and we will definitely return.
The apartment was great & the owners were lovely, friendly & very helpful. Everything you need has been thought of & it is very spacious. The location is great, 5 minutes from some lovely restaurants, it is very peaceful. We had a great stay & would love to return again. Thanks for a great holiday - cheers Hilary & George xx
Lovely property and very homley
We have stayed in Tavira before and it still has the old portugese charm, quaint streets and charming people. Will be back in the future and most definately back to the same property as owners are very caring and welcoming.
Lovely Central Apartment in Tavira
The apartment was very clean with all you would need and more inside. Everything was thought of. It was in a great location in Tavira - easy to get to lots of eating establishments, shops, train and bus stations but the street itself was very quiet. We would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to anyone
The blue flag beach is approximately 1.5 Kms away and can be reached from two ferry points the closest being about 400metres away from the apartment on the river Gilao, the second from Quatro Aguas on the lagoon edge. it boasts miles of fine white sand with beach bars and restaurants. you can hire beach beds with parasols or take the ones from the apartment. Kite surfing lessons are available in Cabanas de Tavira on the beach.
Faro airport is approximately 40kms away, with taxi transfers from £10 per person.Travel time is about 35 minutes. Car hire is not essential but will take you off the beaten path or the mountains and inland towns.
Tavira also has two train stations and the trains are reasonably priced going to all the coastal towns or further afield to Lisbon or Seville. The coach station does trips to Seville. The apartment also benefits from two bicycles for guest use.
The apartment is found in the centre of Tavira. The Spanish border is approximately 30kms with Seville about an hour and a half away by car. The villages of Cabanas and Santa Luzia are about 5 and 3kms respectively and can be reached by the cycle paths easily and quickly or walked at cooler times of the day.
Estoi with its Roman ruins is about thirty minutes drive.
Tavira has everything to offer the modern traveller from lazy beaches to he adrenaline of kitesurfing. There is a sailing school at Quatro Aguas, a riding stables near Mato Santo Spirito,a municipal pool with four pools ( closed in August) a modern shopping mall with multi screen cinema ( films in English with Portuguese subtitles). The town itself is colonial and is still a working town with fishermen bringing in the catch and selling it in the fish market.
The Roman bridge draws many travellers as does the old castle or the camera obscura. The area near the roman bridge is vibrant with cafes and restaurants serving Portuguese and international cuisine, both indoors and out.
In the summer months the main square offers free live concerts and entertainment of a more traditional nature with folklore and traditional bands, set in an amphitheatre of seating.
Tavira is well served for eating in with a number of supermarkets, bakeries and minimakets, butchers (including and English one) and wine shops.there is a second hand bookshop selling English books and a DVD shop renting to the holiday market.
The Ria Formosa is a haven for wading birds and a handy stopping off point for migratory birds.
