About Nick Whittle and Kristina King
I am a local born and bred Islander, who has trained as a boat builder, specializing in traditional wooden boats. I Have developed a few properties with my father and the farm being our greatest which we are very proud of. I'm a keen surfer who enjoys water sports around the island.
Why Nick Whittle and Kristina King chose Yarmouth
The farm dates back to over 300 years old, but was only used as a cattle and dairy farm, myself and father converted the barn recently. The cottage is in a Thorley village with beautiful surroundings, but only a short walk to Yarmouth, and 10-30 minutes drive to lovely beaches.
What makes this Cottage unique
On arrival you will receive a very warm welcome from us with a local produce packed hamper to help you get settled in for your stay at 2 The Dairy. There is also a Hot tub outside which seats 6 people one of them seats being a lie down one. Exceptionally clean and comfortable
Lovely property, great location, enjoyed the hot tub
Lovely property, great location, enjoyed the hot tub
The accommodation was stunning. Beautiful, cosy and very peaceful. An ideal base to explore the Island. Everything you could need is in the property. A real home from home and the hot tub is a bonus. The only dissappointment for us was not meeting Nick and Kristina, as the reviews had said how friendly they were but on this occasion they chose to stay away. But would recommend this property.
A great holiday getaway
Fabulous holiday cottage, very well equipped and maintained. Kristina & Nick take great care of the property, and the facilities they offer.
The pictures don't lie - it is lovely! The Hot Tub in the courtyard was a real bonus - even though we had some of hottest June weather in decades it was still lovely to get some bubbles at the end of the day!
We hope to return again, and will be telling our family & friends about this lovely little cottage.
Colwell Bay was a lovely beach - a very shallow slope so great for young children. The Dancing Water at Ryde was good, and if you like garlic try The Garlice Farm, and garlic icecream...
My cousin and I stayed at The Dairy in Thorley for a week and had a wonderful time. The accommodation was just as it said on the website and the pictures were accurate. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The owner had left a lovely welcome pack including fresh eggs from the nearby farm and a loaf of bread as well as a pint of milk. The kitchen was very well stocked and there was plenty of room in the built in wardrobe to hang clothes. We were only a ten minute drive from the nearest town which had some lovely places to eat. All in all we had a lovely time and we have already recommended this place to family and friends. I would certainly like to go back for a visit next year.
Perfect! Excellent quality & Value
A lovely quiet little place, with more living space than anticipated and furnished to a high standard throughout. The kitchen had been especially thoughtfully equipped with everything you could possibly need.
The hospitality offered by the owners was superb, the perfect blend of friendly attentiveness that was never intrusive.
The hot tub on a clear starry night was an added bonus.
I would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing rural escape or island touring base.
The island is surrounded by beautiful beaches and coastline, the nearest being Colwell bay which is a ten minute drive, there is also Compton where there is surfing and kite surfing, etc which is only a 15 minute drive. There is also sandy beaches at Ryde, Sandown and shanklin which are about 30-40 minute drive away.
Would advise a car, although bus stops are nearby if needed and Yarmouth is within 30 minutes walking distance. Yarmouth ferry is only a 5 minute drive from the Cottage and both East Cowes and Fisbourne ferries are a 30 minute drive away.
For those arriving in Yarmouth the property is a five minute car journey - access to Yarmouth where there are shops, restaurants/bars is a 30 minute walk along the river Yar and country paths. The Island's capital, Newport is 20 minutes drive. The Needles Park at Alum Bay is a 10 minute drive, with many attractions. Robin Hill & Blackgang Chine are child friendly theme parks both within 30 minutes drive. Osbourne House, is open all year round in East cowes which is also a 30 minute drive away.
In nearby Yarmouth there are great bars and restaurants, The George Hotel with its brasserie and lovely garden has views of the Solent. Fresh fish dishes are available at the famous 'Salty's' restaurant, or try the 'On the Rocks' restaurant, where you cook the very best of island meat and fish on a lava stone at your own table. There is also a lovely indian called Yarmouth spice overlooking the harbour, Yarmouth also has three pubs, each serving a varied menu. Relax in one of the bars and watch the the Yachts in Yarmouth Habour. There is a lovely Deli and a great cafe called Gossips with views of the Solent. One ATM point and a few local food and clothing shops. Full supermarket located in Freshwater (10 minutes drive). High Street shops in Newport and Ryde. Cinema (Cineworld) in Newport.
