A gem hidden in an idyllic village
The barn was everything we hoped it would be and more. It has been converted to a very high standard and has everything one would need for a home from home experience. It stands nestled in fields and the sheer peace of its surroundings made it a real sanctuary to return to after a busy day out and about. We cannot recommend this gem highly enough.
Great place I may go again
I think the settee would be better a bit higher up ,but the beds were lovely
A lovely, quiet property, furnished & equipped to a high standard. It was within a 10 minute walk to the local village. The weather was good while we were there, which made a difference. The 2 horses in the adjoining field were very friendly.
Places worth visiting were Totnes, Dartmouth and Haytor (Dartmoor) especially in good weather. Pubs worth visiting were the Union Inn, Dembury, Pig & Whistle near Totnes, and the Two Mile Oak near Ipplepen.
Light, modern, comfortable, well-equipped, peaceful
The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into converting an old barn into a comfortable, attractive home. There’s a real feeling of being immersed in the countryside - lots of big windows with wide views, and the French windows opening onto the garden and paddock (3 playful and friendly horses) from the sitting room and ground floor bedroom are a real pleasure. The owners are friendly and helpful without ever being obtrusive. The village is very pretty and the community-run shop, Post Office and cafe have a good supply of all the basics and of local produce. I’d recommend Parke Barn to anyone, including those with mobility problems as the downstairs bedroom with en suite bathroom is splendid. Best to have a car though, as there are few footpaths nearby.
