Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 6

The cabin is located on almost 6 acres in the Chattahoochee National Forest near the Track Rock Area of Blairsville GA. There are no rear neighbors for about a 10-15 miles. Arrival is a ride up the 900 foot driveway, first 700 is paved, to a cabin located on the side of a hill 2700 feet above sea level. The front porch has a 2 person swing, and rockers to sit back and enjoy the forest. The south side porch area has a Jacuzzi deck and grill deck just off the dining room area. The front porch and spa deck face west and have unobstructed views of Blood and Slaughter Mountains, the sunsets are fantastic.

The living area oozes comfort with a stone floor to ceiling wood burning fireplace and furniture that makes you feel right at home. Here is where you will start to realize why we call this the Bear Cave. There is a large eclectic array of black bear décor located throughout the cabin. Some of which has been left there by some of the really nice families that have stayed here. There is Direct TV service in the living area and master BR and plenty of DVD's to watch. There is no internet service as yet available. You will find some games and books to enjoy also.

There are 2 bedrooms and a loft that will sleep up to 6 persons. The master BR has window seat and king size bed. The master bath has a spa tub and full shower with a large walk in closet. The large loft has a day bed that pulls out to 2 twin beds and overlooks the fireplace and living room area. The main floor BR has a queen size log frame bed with a full bath just outside the BR door.

There is a full kitchen equipped with all the conveniences of home including dishes, silverware and pots and pans. Just bring the food supplies you’ll need. The laundry room is located just off the kitchen. The basement level is yet unfinished but plan on creating a family style room with a full bath in the near future. We do have stuffed bear hanging on the wall that everyone loves taking pics with.

Remember this is the national forest. There are wild animals located in this area. We have had sightings of bear, wolf, fox, deer and all other forest related creatures. It’s wonderful to be able to share their home with them. The peak at the top of the property is an animal trail through the area.

The Bear Cave is located about 4 miles from Brasstown Bald, 20-25 minute ride from Anna Ruby Falls and Helen, 10-15 minutes from downtown Blairsville and L ake Nottely, 10 minutes to Helton Creek Falls and Vogel State Park, and less than 5 minutes to Alexander’s store. Jim’s famous Smokin-Que, Pappy’s and a convenience store are all within a 5 minute ride.

We had an amazing 4 days here and would definitely come back. The cabin is very secluded but still close to everything!

Very clean house inside & really nice wrap around deck for lounging!

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I stayed in October 2017. This area is a great location close to town, waterfalls, Blood mountain, Vogel State park, Brasstown Bald, The Appalachian trail and mountain crossings. Plan on using your GPS for directions around the mountain this is your safest bet I tried to pre-map with google (as to not use so much battery) and it wasn't accurate. If your wandering from the other reviews yes, the driveway is a little steep but, if you follow the owners instructions on the last part of it you will be fine. The only tricky part is there is only room on the road up the mountain to the cabin driveway for one vehicle at a time and there are a few cabins on the same mountain. We came & went without any issues. However, the one time we did encounter someone they backed all the way down the mountain for us to leave. Not sure if this is the normal etiquette or what they have worked out on the mountain between neighbors just glad we didn't have to do this. We loved having cocktails and watching the sunset from the wrap around porch. The little painter rocks are such a cute touch! There are some trees all around but, from the corner of the deck looking out there is a beautiful view of blood mountain in the distance. Pat was very assisting and answered my phone calls when the power went out on us two different mornings around 11AM and the power was turned back on within the hour. There had been recent hurricanes in the area and it was explained that debris removers may be working in the area clearing messes away and disconnected power to do so. The inside of the cabin was very clean and the family room furniture and beds were comfortable. There is a modern flat screen TV in the family room maybe 38 in that isn't reflected in the pictures! We did not use the hot tub but, we did use the spa tub in the master suite which was very nice, clean and relaxing. There were neighbors on the mountain but, they were far enough away that it felt remote and there were trees giving privacy. This location was great for us and right in the middle of all the things we had planned for our trip!
