Why David Knight chose Aquitaine

Comfortable bed, very efficient shower, are two good reasons to chose this apartment. A large flat screen television with French and UK channels plus Free Wifi connection to the internet keep you in touch with the world, whilst peace and quite allows you to have a relaxing visit to Sarlat.

Close to the town yet peaceful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

Sarlat was the last place we stayed in our two week stay in France and this property was by far the best. The location was perfect, 5 minutes walk from the centre of Sarlat yet very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed sitting on the terrace overlooking the beautiful garden. David and Francoise were extremely welcoming and helpful suggesting good places to visit. They were also very generous and gave us some delicious tomatoes from their garden. There was a huge selection and each was a good as the last. The apartment was well equipped with a very comfortable French bed. The kitchen and bathroom were modern and clean. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family and hope to return another time.

Great, well located apartment

  • 5 of 5

This great apartment was exactly as described, with everything we needed. The garden terrace was a real bonus for a town apartment. It's just a few minutes walk from the centre of the beautiful town of Sarlat. David and Francoise are warm and friendly and shared in the bounty of their lovely garden. I've now got a burning interest in different varieties of tomato! There is lots to do and see in the area, from the prehistoric to the 21C. Highly recommended!

Great hosts

  • 5 of 5

What a great start to our two month stay in France, three weeks in David and Francoise's Sarlat apartment together with all the necessities for your stay plus a very comfy bed (which is a blessing after long days exploring the many sights of the Dordogne). The patio is ideal for relaxing and alfresco dining and is further complemented by by the generosity of sharing their garden and produce especially the raspberries.

The centre of this historic town is only a five minute walk with quaint narrow streets and eateries. On Saturdays the market starts at your doorstep and goes all the way through the town.

Thank you again Francoise and David for your knowledge, information and friendship and yes your advise to go to Aigues Mortes was spot on

Owner's Response: Many of our guests travel a long way to get to Sarlat. Nobody travels further than the Australians except the Kiwi's. We enjoy looking after our guests and we do whatever we can to help and assist even prodding when necessary. The bounty of our garden is there to be shared by all. Kiwi's are good guys and well worth the raspberries.

Great spot in Sarlat !

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a better place to spend a week in the Dordogne area ! The apartment met every need and the hosts could not have been more welcoming ! The location was great for exploring Sarlat on foot and the area by car.

We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh produce that our hosts shared with us and the conversations too !

Our only complaint was the time went by too quickly !

Many thanks !

Nice bright apartment!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is in a great location - very close to the medieval downtown. It is a spacious apartment, complete with a patio which was so nice to sit out on. The kitchen had everything we needed and we really enjoyed our stay there. Francoise and David are very friendly hosts and we certainly appreciated the restaurant recommendation - had the best meal we have ever had in France! We would stay here again if we go back to Sarlat.

My husband and I just returned from an amazing two week adventure in Sarlat. This apartment is just as described, bright, comfortable and a few minutes walk from the Medieval Town, restaurants, and cafes.

Francoise and David are very friendly hosts. David was invaluable in answering our questions and sharing his favorite restaurants, cafes, and boulangeries. Francoise insisted in sharing the bounty from her remarkable garden. We enjoyed her fresh tomatoes, beans, and peaches!

Sitting on the terrace, drinking our coffee surrounded by such beauty was a great way to start the day!

This apartment is a wonderful place to explore the Dordogne region!

Car: not necessary

The apartment is centre-ville enabling access to all the delights of Sarlat without the need of a car. Sarlat is a delightful market town with many beautiful12th century buildings. It is the historical, cultural and gourmet heart of the Perigord Noir. The markets are on Saturday and Wednesday, a general market at the weekend and a farmers market midweek. During the winter months, Sarlat also hosts a truffle market for commercial and private buyers.

For summer evenings there are many professional street entertainers and the spectaculars continue well into the night.

Sarlat is in the centre of what is regarded as one of the most beautiful areas of France that encompasses Domme, Baynac and Roque Gageac along the picturesque Dordogne River.

There are many hundreds of kilometres of walking and cycling trails where you can spend hours in the solitude of wonderful countryside.

Other activities include golf, fishing, canoeing, hunting, bird watching and swimming in the Dordogne.

The Vézère river between Montignac and its confluence with the Dordogne at Limeuil offers some of the most splendid landscapes in Aquitaine. The valley is considered to be the cradle of civilization in Europe, a theme which is detailed in the National Museum of Pre History at Les Eyzies-de-Tayac and in the many pre-historic sites and caves open to the public.
