Located just a few minutes drive (less than a mile) from the gorgeous beaches of ‘Sandymouth’ and ‘Duckpool’. This 350 years old cottage has lots of character with huge slate flagstones, oak beams and lots more. Indeed it was the setting for children’s fiction novel ‘The Sword watchers’. The spacious lounge has a flat screen TV/DVD, ample seating and an inglenook fireplace keeping it warm and cosy. There is also a snug lounge which provides more space and is perfect for spreading out and enjoying different activities. The kitchen is well equipped with a large range cooker, farmhouse dining-table and everything else you should need including a built in dishwasher. There is also a utility room with a washing machine, which is perfect for storing bikes and surfboards. The cottage has a private lawned garden with patio, and furniture for barbecues after a long day on the beach. There are off-road parking areas for up to three vehicles adjoining the property.

About Amanda Haydon
Amanda was born in Truro and moved to Bude when she was 6 months. She has worked in catering/tourism for over 25 years and her local knowledge can be extremely useful. James came to Sandymouth to milk cows for a year before going to college in 1986. He discovered surfing and never left. He is known for his big-wave surfing exploits and won local surf-contests for several years. In his late 20's he wrote junior fiction novel 'The Swordwatchers' which achieved literary paperback status.
Amanda Haydon purchased this Cottage in 2006

Lovely farm house and great owner
The cottage was in very nice quiet surroundings which was nice to get away from busy city life. The local village kilkhampton was a 5min drive and bude is a 15 mins drive. The cottage was well equipped and the owner Amanda was very pleasant and happy to help with anything anytime! 10/10
Great cottage - lovely owners
Eight 23/24 year olds rented this cottage for a week in early July and all enjoyed our time immensely. The property was immaculately prepared and cream tea on arrival was greatly appreciated after a long journey from the North. James and Amanda were on hand at all times with either advice on the surf or recommendations for eating out (even including a lift in the 70s Land Rover!). It was our first trip down to Cornwall and unlikely to be the last, as the area provides plenty to see and do, with several great beaches within 15 minutes drive and a number of memorable walks; even the Eden Project is within an hour's drive. Would recommend this cottage to anyone, from groups like ours to families. A 10/10 first trip to Bude!
Stibb Farm Cottage
The Cottage was lovely, very spacious, clean and full of character. We loved every little detail, including the toys and games provided in the second reception room - perfect for families with small children. The garden was ideal for young children too.
Stibb was an ideal location, close to the beaches and holiday park, which was within walking distance and available to guests staying at Stibb Farm Cottage - great for rainy days! The owners of Farm Cottage were lovely and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Special interest holidays:
The nearest beach of Sandymouth offers the best surfing in Cornwall. There is immediate access for walkers to Stowe Woodlands and the coastal path. We can advise on surfing and walking options upon your arrival. The rock-climbing is also reportedly exceptional. A range of outdoor activities companies organize adventurous excursions to meet all requirements. Fishing trips are run from Bude harbour and Clovelly, or you may prefer to simply catch the ferry from Bideford to Lundy Island to watch the wildlife.
The Beach of Sandymouth is within a mile, or is 2-to-3 minutes drive away. You can walk to the beach, but it can be a long, uphill walk at the end of a hot day (you can call in at Sandymouth Holiday Park for a drink on the way back though). Sandymouth offers 2 miles of open sand and surf at low-tide (all the way to Bude). It is backed by jagged cliffs and waterfalls. There is an RNLI lifeguard patrol between May & October to keep you safe. It maintains the highest standards of water quality.
From the M5 Stibb is reached via the A30 to Oakhampton, then follow the signs towards Holsworthy then Bude. Use of a car is recommended, as rural buses can be infrequent. The entire coast is serviced by small shuttle buses however, with the nearest stop being 50 meters from Stibb Farm cottage.
Access to the woodlands of Coombe Valley is pretty much immediate to the village of Stibb.
The small village of Kilkampton is 1 mile from Stibb.
Bude is 3 miles/ 5 minutes by car, or 55 minutes along the cliff-path.
Bideford is 28 miles or 30 minutes drive.
Supermarkets, shopping facilities, banks, restaurants and cafes are all within easy access in the local town of Bude.
There are National Trust properties and estates across Cornwall which we can provide more information on upon arrival.
