About Graham OTWAY
Since leaving the UK in 2006 I have been renovating the farmhouse at Lablancou and have also learned to farm walnuts. The last 3 years have been spent turning the farm organic and the 2013 crop was the first to be sold with an organic status.
Graham OTWAY purchased this Farmhouse in 2006
Why Graham OTWAY chose Castelnaud-la-Chapelle
We found the Dordogne was a perfect location with its hot summers and crisp clear winters and we love the contrast between seasons. We wanted a property that was close to the interesting things to see and do in the area and also fulfilled our dream of growing organic food; Lablancou fitted the bill perfectly. It is close to all the amenities, charming villages and chateaux yet remains a tranquil hideaway. On a clear night the view of the stars is breathtaking and we never tire of gazing at the Milky Way and shooting stars when they are around. The biggest light pollution here is the moon and we provide a telescope for those interested in viewing the stunning night sky.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Having all of the great tourist attractions of the Perigord Noir within a few minutes drive means that there are lots of interesting things to see and do. At the same time Lablancou offers a haven of tranquillity and is the perfect location to relax and enjoy the countryside. There is plenty of space for children to run around and only the occasional car or tractor that passes by. There are fabulous food and craft markets in a different local town or village each day and they are perfect for wandering around and appreciating French culture and lifestyle.

Good old Dordogne
Fantastic place has everything you’d need we had a little man under 4 with us and Graham and Adele were very accommodating. The place is very isolated and it’s silent 😂 the pool is a dream when sunny however we had a bit of bad weather and the house more than made up for the weather 👍 lovely people lovely house thank you 🙏
We had a wonderful time, and graham and Adele were terrific hosts. I can imagine how especially great it would be with even better weather.
A fabulous place to stay in the Dordogne.
This was our second visit here and it hasn't lost any of it's sparkle. It is a lovely home with two lovely hosts , Graham and Adele, who go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable. The property is clean and comfortable with plenty of seating areas around the extensive grounds to give you seclusion or to get involved at the pool or the fabulous new barbeque area which boasts two barbeques side by side along with a newly built bread oven for any pizza lovers. Nothing has been overlooked to make your stay an enjoyable and memorable one and I heartily recommend it . It is central for all of the areas attractions while being secluded and quiet enough to simply chill and relax if you wish. I would really like to keep it for myself but it simply deserves recognition as a great place to stay in the Dordogne. Try it. You will not be dissapointed.
Graham & Adele's Farmhouse was just what we wanted
Myself, my partner, her 3 adult daughters & 2 partners could not have wished for anything else from our stay. Graham & Adele were nearby if we needed them and were able to recommend a fantastic local restaurant (Petit Paris, Daglan). Having the Pool, Barbecue and Pizza oven made it even more enjoyable. The Farmhouse, the Pool (cleaned daily) and all other areas were amazing clean. The kitchen well stocked with everything a good chef could want (not that I am any kind of good chef), plenty of pots, pans, knives etc. Loved the range cooker and large oven.
Huge garden, plenty of shade if required. Lovely pool area. Great location, away from it all. Some nice walks if you want them. We all enjoyed a canoe/kayak adventure down the Dordogne, what a great day we had. The Boulangerie in Castelnaud was great for morning croissants / pain au chocs but get there before 9 to save disappointment.
We would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful location set in a Walnut Tree orchard with amazing views. The gite has been tastefully and comprehensively refurbished but has retained all the charm you could ask for. Property was spotlessly clean and well maintained.
Equipped with just about anything you might want it was cosy comfortable and homely. Graham and Adele were great hosts - so we booked to return next year before we even finished the holiday.
Great location to explore the area with amazing Chateau's, the Dordogne its self, caves, markets, beautiful medieval towns - actually it has got the lot! Hosts will assist with working out where you want to visit if you wish.
The hot air balloon show (8) we saw one evening was awesome. Gite sits under their normal route so in still weather you will probably see these too.
Told all our family and friends - can't recommend this place highly enough.
