One bedroom rural cottage in the beautiful and historic Boyne Valley nr. Kells.
About Sinead Connelly
I've been renting our Gate Lodge for over ten years and have many regular visitors. My husband and I love to have guests at the Lodge - like having part time neighbours. Our collie Hero loves it also. I like to greet our guests myself and show them around and am nearly always at the end of the 'phone should guests need help or information.
Sinead Connelly purchased this Cottage in 1980
Why Sinead Connelly chose Fordstown
This was our dream small Georgian house with a Gate Lodge, a river, a few acres to make a garden and lots of good fresh air. The Meath countryside is unspoilt and bursting with history while access to Dublin is quick and easy.
What makes this Cottage unique
Guests will find peace and quiet here. It's the ideal place to relax. A gorgeous private rose garden with a babbling brook for daytime, and books galore and an open fireplace for evenings. Wonderful! A Hidden Treasure!
We spent 3 lovely days here and enjoyed every minute. Sinead is a great host providing all the luxuries of home. The kind gesture to allow us early check in after a 25 hour flight was much appreciated as was her welcome pack of goodies (milk, butter, eggs, bread, cake, fruit...all delicious). The cottage was warm, comfortable and home-away-from-home. We would recommend this beautiful cottage, with access to an extremely large garden and off-road parking , to everyone...especially Australians...for good old-fashioned country hospitality. Thank you Sinead!
Loved our stay in the gatehouse, like something out of a storybook. Sinead is the most courteous host going out of her way on all levels. Lovley to arrive and have chicken pie in the fridge and a cake to die for. The dog Hero was my favourite and I loved playing ball with her, it was really a home away from home. The accomodation is close to all places of interest around Meath. The cottage has everything you could ever require and the gardens are relaxing as well as beautiful. We had the best bike ride at Sloane calling into the castle and whiskey distillery and enjoying an Irish coffee.
Such a pleasure to meet you both. I've added Rock Farm Bicycle Hire in Slane to my list of things to do in our lovely Boyne Valley - after the ancient sites of Tara and Newgrange... Hero's toys are still intact! Thank you.
Great ! Beautiful
Upon arrival found it better than advertised. Snead was most welcoming and helpful. One of the best vacation rental we have been in. Particularly enjoyed the open fireplace, Hero (the dog) and magnificent grounds. Wonderful country location.
Thank you both for such a lovely review. Hope you had a good visit to Dublin and are keeping well. Sinead
