About David & Heidi Bottomley
Our names are David and Heidi and we live in North Yorkshire. We have holidayed in this Villa in Palmela village with our children ( the youngest of whom is 8) and parents for the last 7 years. We enjoy the home from home feel, and very quickly relax into our holidays there. The children enjoy the private pool and in the evening we enjoy visiting the clubhouse or watching a movie at home. We like the position of our villa overlooking the 4th green and the 5th tee and one of the golf course's lakes. We have regular drives into Lisbon and regular visits to the many great beaches in the area.
David & Heidi Bottomley purchased this Villa in 2007
Why David & Heidi Bottomley chose Palmela
Depending on your mood you can drive into Lisbon where there are many interesting places to visit in the day or evening. Alternatively drive south or west and spend the day at one of many beautiful beaches in the area. There are numerous interesting towns and villages to explore nearby and of course many high quality golf courses in the Lisbon area including a pretty course in which the villa sits.
What makes this Villa unique
This villa is internally very striking with wonderful natural lighting. It has all the modern conveniences that would be required, so if you fancy staying at home for the day you can relax inside or out. Our villa is well away from the centre of the village and so is both quiet and private. In our opinion it is in one of the best locations within the village

This is a very well maintained villa, obviously looked after and it has been invested in which made the stay very pleasurable. I won't waffle on, but will summarise below.
* Modern, large villa with all mod cons.
* Very tidy en-suites to all bedrooms.
* Plenty of A/C units to keep things cool when it gets too hot.
* Lovely private pool which is at the same level, about 1.50m.
* Nicely kept and maintained gardens / spacious decking area with table chairs, canopy and 6 sun loungers.
* Close to the nearest small town although you need a car to get around as the villa is in a golf complex which is fenced.
No real Cons to list, but some minor suggestions. There were no oven gloves and the kitchen could do with a blind as it get's very hot about tea time if you are cooking. But if that's all I can find to whinge about, it must be doing something very right!
We wanted a totally relaxing week after a week of hectic sightseeing in Lisbon (fabulous City, by the way) and the villa was spot on and gave us a smashing base to do that. It's a shame the golf course is no longer used, but there we go. There are some empty plots around the large complex, but the Clubhouse is still active. All in all a very nice villa and can recommend.
Great villa for a relaxing family break
We had a great week with 2 teenagers and two of their friends. Excellent villa with fantastic pool - plenty big enough for all 6 of us. Great outside space with sun or shade all day. Villa really nice with everything that we needed ( air conditioning especially welcome). If we are being really picky - blinds in the kitchen would be an improvement a would a hair dryer.
At the time of our visit the golf course was closed but this didn't affect our enjoyment.
A well-equipped and presented villa with everything needed for a relaxing holiday
We stayed for 3 weeks from the middle of September to early October 2018. Clearly the fact that we did not see a cloud for the whole time was a huge factor, however the villa was a further big bonus. It was spotlessly clean and well presented as well as being fully equipped (the top-line coffee maker was especially appreciated!). Beds were extremely comfortable and each bedroom having an en-suite was a big bonus. David & Heidi Bottomley, the owners were very accommodating and always responded quickly to any communications. Likewise, Rita, who managed the property locally was very pleasant and supportive. Our son joined us for some of the time with his family including our 6 month old grandson and the provision of a very good cot and high chair was greatly appreciated.
What would improve things further? Provision of a small, hotel-style safe would be great asset; hooks on the wall for the shower heads and replacement of the large sun parasol which has now seen better days. Nevertheless we hope to return to this lovely villa.
Dear Martyn and Val
Thank you for your kind words about our house. We will pass the message onto Rita also.
Thank you for the constructive feedback also.We agree that the parasol needs replacing and we will do that for next summer.
We have also taken on board the points about the shower hooks and will make some enquiries about a safe.
You and your family will be most welcome back in the future.
With kind regards
David and Heidi
One of the finest villas in the Palmela/Quinta do Anjo resort
The villa is one of the best ones in the resort: it is in good condition and it has clearly been well maintained. There´s plenty of room both inside in the villa and out in the garden. With air conditioning and an extra water tank your stay is guaranteed to be enjoyable regardless of the weather. Both the owners and Rita, the local contact person are very helpful.
This was our second visit to the resort (first one was 2015). The resort is under new management and it seems that they are taking a bit more care of the place (eg. the club house was way more active compared to our previous visit). There also seemed to be a bit more people visiting the resort. Nevertheless, there is still a large number of empty and run-down villas and apartments in the resort. Hopefully they find new owners for these ones too so that the general atmosphere of the resort gets even better.
This is a great location to visit different areas around southern Portugal - highly recommended in many ways. Thank you David and Heidi!
Thank you for your kind words regarding our home. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay.
It is good to see that the resort is improving year-on-year also.

We had a lovely 10 night holiday in this villa, 3 adults and 2 15 year old girls. The villa is very spacious, 3 nice, large bedrooms all ensuite and all with very comfortable beds, plenty of wardrobe storage space for all of us girls.
The villa was spotlessly clean on our arrival. 10 minute drive into town to supermarkets and restaurants - can highly recommend the Tapas bar by the castle, food was so good we went twice.
Although we only cooked one evening meal in the villa, the kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed. Could maybe do with a roller blind in the kitchen as it was unbelievably hot in the afternoons.
The outside pool and deck area was lovely and spacious, plenty of shade if you wanted to escape the sun.
All in all, very happy with our choice of holiday villa for 2017.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We will take on board your comments so that the Villa becomes an even more desirable place to stay for future guests.
With best wishes
David and Heidi
Beautiful spacious villa.
We really enjoyed our stay, the villa is much more spacious than it looked in the photos. Very clean and stylish. It was a little tricky to find your way around inside the resort, and our satnav kept trying to take us down roads that were closed off, but it's not too hard once you have worked it out. Perhaps sending out a better map with the arrival notes might help.
There were a few problems with water pressure falling and the boiler not working, which we reported to Rita who dealt with it very efficiently. There were a few issues with the new pump but Rita was easy to get in touch with and spoke excellent English.
The kitchen was well equipped with everything we possibly wanted and we did a lot of cooking rather than eat out, the only thing missing was a corkscrew! I expect this may have gone missing?
There are quite a few ants around so we bought a few pods pf ant killer and were very careful to not leave food out, not a problem if you are on top of it, but would advise to pick up some ant killer on your first trip to the shops.
There are a few supermarkets locally that are very easy to get to and have lots of choice and are reasonably priced.
The pool is excellent, a really good size and gets lots of sun. All of the rooms have great balconies and blinds to keep them cool, the air con was great too.
A very comfortable stay, we would definitely reccommend. Thank you.
We're glad that you enjoyed your stay.
We have a favoured way to go to the house via the Vasco de Gama bridge but the Sat Nav sometimes suggests going over the Apri 25th bridge which we assume may be slightly quicker. After all the years we have been coming we still use the Sat Nav from Lisbon and let it direct us via the fastest route. If you put Quinta do Anjo in the Sat Nav it should take you to one of the 2 entrances to the resort.
We have installed the water tank now and this should address any short term water supply issues to the resort.
As you say, the ants occasionally need to know where is out of bounds for them.
Yes, our corkscrew has gone. We will replace.
Thanks for the kind comments about the villa.
We hope to make further improvements to the exterior of the building and the garden in the coming months and the resort is under new management so we would hope to see improvements in the resort itself over the coming months also.
If you and your family wished to visit again you would of course be very welcome.

The golf club provides good food at reasonable prices throughout the day. In the Summer there is live music every weekend evening. Furthermore an excellent buffet is available each evening during Summer season.
Post office, pharmacy, bank etc. located in Quinta do Anjo.
