Villa in peaceful olive grove, but close to village amenities. Sea views, 5oo mtrs from the beach.
About Clare Doig
We are a retired couple from Fife, Scotland. We've been visiting Corfu for family holidays for many years now and have built a villa in the north of the island, overlooking the sea and the Albanian mountains. We love Corfu, the countryside, beaches and the lovely friendly people. Our property has a magnificent view and is within easy walking distance of the village with many bars, cafes and tavernas, and, of course, the three mile long sandy Almyros beach. The village of Acharavi is family orientated and is used in the spring and autumn as a base for walking and bird- watching holidays.
Clare Doig purchased this Villa in 2006
Why Clare Doig chose Acharavi
Our property was built in 2006 and we have been renting it for several years. We like Acharavi because it is relatively quiet and suitable for families. The local people are very friendly and the beach is safe and never gets too crowded. There are many places to eat, drink and relax, and there are shops where you can buy all you need if you prefer to be self catering. The villa is on the outskirts of the village, all our neighbours are Greek and the location is peaceful. It is set in an ancient olive grove with views of the woods, the coast-line and the Adriatic sea. Our garden has big old olive trees and local wild life, such as tortoises! The olive clad hills rise up behind the house to the top of Pantokrator, the only mountain on Corfu.
What makes this Villa unique
Our property is a good base for a family beach holiday, for people wishing to explore Corfu by hire car and, at the cooler times of the year, for hikers, botanists and bird watchers. Corfu is rich in archeological sites and old monasteries and has a beautiful varied coastline of cliffs, sandy and pebbley beaches and small deserted coves which can be explored by car, on foot or by boat. You can book days out by boat, coach or jeep, hire a small boat yourself or set off on your own armed with a guide-book and map! Serious walkers can walk the Corfu Trail which goes right round the whole island and takes a couple of weeks, but you can dip in and out of it and walk small sections at a time. Or you can sit on the balcony with a glass of ouzo and admire " the best view in the Mediterranean".

Lovely apartment in Acharavi with an amazing view
We had a great time in Corfu staying in this peaceful apartment with an incredible view of the sea and Albania. The hillside location meant that there was often a cooling breeze which helped to reduce the heat. The apartment had everything we needed for our stay. Acharavi is an excellent location with lots of shops and restaurants and a very long, sandy beach. It was a great base to travel around Corfu as the main roads were easy to get to.
Thank you so much Emma! We are pleased you had a good holiday.

A HOME FROM HOME
Could not fault apartment. Spacious with every amenity you could want for a relaxing holiday in the sun. Terrific views from balcony overlooking miles of coastline. Clare provided us with towels , beach shoes and so much more. Although apartment set in the hills it was only a 10 min walk to the main area of Acharavi with lots of shops and places to eat. You will really need to hire a car though to get the most out of your holiday as there are many beaches just a short drive away. Would recommend setting aside a day to visit Corfu town itself as the old part still retains the flavour of the past with cobbled streets winding through the old town lined with shops of all sorts.
We have experienced many different types of accommodation on our travels through the med over the last ten years or so and we can only comment that Clare's apartment felt more like a home from home than any we have stayed at in the past.
Top marks Clare !
Thank you so much Peter! We are glad you had such a good holiday.
Gordon and Clare.
Beautiful location and wonderful views from the terrace. Very peaceful but easy walking to tavernas
Great place and would happily return.
Thank you Susan,
We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Axaravi, and hope you holiday here again some day.
It was a pleasure meeting you both. Kind regards, G & C
Glad you had a good holiday
Wish we were still there!
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at this property. The apartment was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. In fact, everything you could possibly need for the perfect holiday. The view from the balcony was stunning, I can understand what attracted Clare and Gordon to the area. Lucky couple, living the dream, but also willing to share it with others. We had a car, so did plenty of exploring. Corfu Is a beautiful island, this was our first visit, but will not be our last. We can highly recommend both Corfu and this accommodation.
Thank you so much Susan and Colin!
Such a beautiful spot
We had a wonderful holiday, and a lot of that was thanks to the wonderful location of the apartment and the hospitality of our hosts, Clare and Gordon.
We had a hire car (and direction to the apartment from Clare), and it was easy to reach a number of attractions that filled our six day break. It was also a great place to sit and read, with a balcony overlooking the sea and the Albanian coast.
The beach was easy walking distance which had a really good and inexpensive café/restaurant (eating out all through the trip was not expensive). We had a lovely walk in the hills behind (with a couple more restaurants as you reach the top). It was also a good place for bird watching (an interest which Gordon shares).
We both plan to return.
Thank you both for your glowing review. May Clare and I say it was a pleasure to have you stay at our villa in the sun, and hope you do return to enjoy this green and lovely island.
We are 500 metres ( a ten minute walk) from the 3 mile long mostly sandy Almyros beach. If you walk south along the beach there are many cafes, restaurants and tavernas and places where you can hire sun beds and umbrellas, pedalos, wind-surfers or ride a banana boat! If you walk north you will soon be alone on the beach with wild sand dunes giving way to the country-side. Acharavi also has the Hydropolis water park, popular with families. NB The house is located up a short, but steep hill!
The only airport on the island is in Corfu Town, 40 minutes by car from Acharavi. A hire car is recommended, but you could take a taxi or there are very cheap, but good, air-conditioned local buses which leave from the central bus station.
The nearest villages are the resort of Roda 3 km away and St Spiridon , a pretty, sandy cove 5km along the coast. Both are within walking distance. The beautiful resort of Kassiopi is 10 km around the coast with the famous deserted village of Perithia nearby. Paleokastrista, which is famous for it's coves and monastery is within reach, as are the many, unspoilt mountain villages on the slopes of Pantokrator.
Corfu Town is a wonderful place to visit with many old churches, a beautiful long seafront, two ancient forts, an Archeological Museum and one displaying Asiatic Art. There is some beautiful Venetian architecture and the famous Liston and cricket pitch, where cricket matches are played on Sundays in the cooler months. There are many shops and restaurants hidden in the winding alleys and an outdoor market for fresh food and vegetables, including sea-food fresh from the Adriatic.
