About Mrs H L Platel
Hi, I'm Helen Platel, welcome to Solva Group and Family Holidays. We have lived in Solva for almost 3 years but we have been visiting Solva for over 12! We first came across Solva on a Bank Holiday weekend where we joined some friends, the surf at Newgale looked stunning in the sunset and that was it, we were hooked! We have 2 children aged 10 and 8, we made the decision to move here as a family and build 2 beautiful houses, Maes Y Gwaelod and Y Bwlch. We have never looked back since moving to Solva, being so close to the sea and the coast path alone is wonderful but living in a village like Solva with your family is stunning. Our children love Solva as much as we do, they love Solva Harbour for the crabbing and jumping off the Quay wall, I think you'll feel the same when you visit.
Mrs H L Platel purchased this House in 2012
Why Mrs H L Platel chose Solva
We built Maes Y Gwaelod in 2012, it is a beautiful house in a lovely part of Solva. With rural views towards Carn Llidi in St Davids and walking distance of all of Solva it is in a fantastic location to allow you to make the very best of your visit to Solva. We have created a large offroad parking area in front of the house, accommodating 5+ cars. The back garden is paved and grassed with plenty of outdoor seating and a hot tub! Solva is a beautiful village, the people are very friendly and welcoming, the four pubs in Solva are all great for food, drink and company as are the 2 cafes. The lovely Solva Harbour and the Pembrokeshire Coast path are both within walking distance of the house.
What makes this House unique
When setting up Maes y Gwaelod for our visitors we have tried to think of everything we would enjoy if we were coming to stay for a week in Solva. With the sea as your playground we thought a surf board, some body boards, wetsuits and kayaks may be useful, there is a selection for you to try. The hot tub is a favourite of my husbands! As a keen kitesurfer and cyclists he knows the benefit of having this available to you at the house to sink into after a hard day playing! We haven't forgotten the children either! With a large trampoline in the garden, a Wii console in the sitting room and a large 3D TV in the lounge we have tried to cater for everyone!

Nice location, nice property
We enjoyed our stay, the welcome pack was excellent. To have kayak available for use was a real bonus for the grandchildren. An excellent time was had by all.
Thank you very much for your review, we are really pleased that you had a great stay. We really hope you will come back again.
If you have any recommendations that would allow us to reach 5 stars next time we'd be really pleased to hear them.
All the very best and thanks again,
Perfect family home.
Our group was a made up of family & friends and this property lent itself perfectly for a mixed group. 4 Great size bedrooms, 3 beautifully appointed bathrooms, 2 TV rooms, huge kitchen/diner, outdoor space, hot tub, parking for 4 cars we couldn't ask for more. Fantastic property, fantastic views, beautiful sunsets & star lite night sky's in a lovely location. Would totally recommend this property and Solva. (the weather was even perfect!)
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay We really hope that you decide to return to Solva again in the future. All the best, Helen & Carl
The house was great and in an ideal location to explore Solva and surrounding areas without having to use the car every day. Helen was a great host and provided loads of information on things do do, places to eat etc and was always quick to respond to any queries. The hot tub is a lovely addition and was enjoyed by all of the family.
Hi Kelly, Thank you for your great review of Maes Y Gwaelod, it was great to meet you all and I hope you come back and stay again.
