Why Bridget Hayward chose Crowborough
Fairstowe is a beautiful Arts and Crafts country house nestling in a large Edwardian garden. It is tucked away next to an area of outstanding natural beauty in the High Weald. It is peaceful but not remote, it lies within one mile of the centre of Crowborough on the edge of the Ashdown Forest. The area is popular with cyclists, golfers, walkers and bird watchers.
What makes this House unique
As a guest you will understand the unique benefits of this property when you swim in the heated pool, then stretch out in the warm sun on a comfortable recliner on the terrace overlooking the well-manicured garden. Or when you look at the wooden panelling, oak floors and features of this Edwardian country house. Or when you slide under luxury linen on a superbly comfortable bed. Or on a winter's evening curl up on a cosy settee in front of the wood-burning stove to watch a film or read a book. That's before exploring all the treats provided by the local attractions, countryside and amenities.

. A long weekend
Beautiful home & grounds. We had a fab 3 day weekend that felt like we'd been away for a week. The children loved the space in the garden, pool, ping pong and space to kick a football. Super comfy double beds and a sweet dormitory room for 4 children. The owners are friendly, extremely helpful, and discrete.
Jenny and her party were ideal guests. The property was left beautifully clean and tidy. You would not have known there were 6 children staying for a long weekend. The whole party were respectful of the their surroundings and we would certainly recommend them as house guests.
A dream house
Absolutely beautiful. Marvellous house and gardens and very nice hosts
Amazing house for our NYE getaway
We had rented Fairview for 3 nights over the NYE weekend. 8 adults and 2 children, the house was perfect. Suitably large, however at the same time incredibly homely and cosy. We felt very welcome and comfortable as soon as we stepped through the door.
Jim and Bridget were great throughout the booking process, and very responsive.
The house had everything we needed - superb linen in the bedrooms, very nice bathrooms (loved the small on suites), fully equipped kitchen and loved the wood burning oven in the lounge.
This house is great winter and summer, and I'd like to be able to return when the wether is warm and we can take advantage of the fabulous garden and swimming pool as well.
Thanks very much for your kind review Agnes. Yes, do come back in the summer and enjoy the tranquil outdoors, the barbecue and swimming pool. Best wishes, Jim.
A Superb Holiday!
We visited "Fairstowe" for the second time from 4th.-11th. August and once again it was absolutely perfect. The pool is top class, and the croquet area provided a lot of fun for the family. The house, the gardens, and the grounds are beautiful, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Perfect weekend. We were 3 generations of 4 children and 6 adults. The pool and gardens beautiful
The house and gardens are beautifully kept and the range of flowers and planting’s of great interest. Plenty of room for games and football and inside the house space to accommodate 4 children aged 2-8 and their parents and grandparents. We ate outside all the time and the barbecue excellent. The weather was hot for the whole weekend so we didn’t leave the house to do other visits. No need!
The pool was really important as we all enjoy the water and that really mattered.
Jim and Bridget were gracious and friendly but not intrusive hosts. All systems worked well and were clearly explained.
We loved it and it was a very happy and memorable weekend for us as a family.
Thanks very much for your kind review. We are thrilled your whole family enjoyed their stay. Best wishes.
Wonderful relaxing weekend
Made most welcome by Jim & Bridget who explained the various gadgets, heating, etc. Fully equipped although sitting 12 at once was a bit difficult but we managed by putting 2 tables together. The gardens are fantastic & great for hide & seek, croquet or just sitting by the pool, which is what we mainly did. We decided not to have the pool heated but this did not cause any problems for the children or most of the adults. We had a problem with the water but it was sorted quickly. A great place to stay for the whole family. They even laid on brilliant weather!!
Bridget and I are thrilled you had a great stay and the weather held over the weekend. I'm a little perplexed about the table comment as the dining room table readily seats 12. Best wishes, Jim.
