About Mary Brown
Hello! We are Mary and Henry Brown, the owners. We live in London and have a wonderful team of people in St Ives who help us to take care of Barnoon and Seabirds House. Henry looks after any issues with the building, and I manage the bookings. I really enjoy the contact with our guests - many regulars feel like friends even when all the contact has been by email. Apart from St Ives and family, our main interest is sailing - in a dinghy on the Thames and a bigger boat on the sea.
Mary Brown purchased this Apartment in 2000
Why Mary Brown chose Saint Ives
In 1998 we bought a little flat in Barnoon Terrace, having fallen in love with St Ives, and the view. We let it as well as using it ourselves from the start. Then we saw another property just up the hill which was in a very sorry state indeed. We bought it and had the inside completely rebuilt, turning the original 7 flatlets into 5 lovely flats, taking full advantage of the view. This is Seabirds House. and we think the position and views are unbeatable. The flats are bright and cheerful, IKEA style. No chintz!

Handy for beach& town- Spacious, comfortable bedrooms ,outdoor area for a drink or something to eat( not for us tho, too windy!) Washing up liquid & a few basics. No towels/tea towels provided, available to hire. Good choice for location, view & value.
Bring your binoculars!
Absolutely perfect for our short break. Stunning view from front window
Beautiful flat with amazing views. Very clean, comfortable beds. The owner was easily approachable amd helpful. Would definitely recommend
Lovely appartment spacious and quiet but so near all amenities highly recommend
Better than advertised
The Seabird House was an exceptional bargain. Everything was neat, clean, orderly, and the owners handling of all email contacts efficient and friendly. All appliances were functional and Mary's instructions on use of the flat well thought out. All of my communications with her were timely and efficient, and I might add, very friendly. I am not sure that there is a better view anywhere else in the town. The flat is well located to the town center and harbor, as well as the the north shore. For those needing parking, a large lot is nearby, though we used the space that came with the flat, and it was very handy as well. We rate everything about this flat and its owner as excellant. The Ashwoods
It's a 4 minute walk from Seabirds to Porthmeor Beach or the Harbour beach. Porthmeor is wide and faces west, so that there are often good waves rolling in from the Atlantic. There's a surf school, surf board and wetsuit hire, and an excellent cafe. The Tate Gallery also overlooks this beach.
2 minutes round the headland is the smaller Porthgwidden Beach.
3 minutes in the other direction is the picturesque harbour with its clean golden sand at low tide.
It's 6 minutes to Porthminster beach.
St Ives can be reached quite easily by train. Many main line trains from London to Penzance stop at St Erth from where there is a charming little branch line to St Ives with a frequent service. Seabirds is 15 minutes walk from the station or there are plenty of local taxis.
There is a small airport at Newquay, 30 miles away.
From west of London, including Heathrow Airport, it is a 6 hour drive to St Ives.
