About Catriona Robertson
The Old Dairy Cottage has been in the family for over 25 years. Whether it's stretching out to gaze at the stars on a clear night, putting a picnic together to take down the cliffs to Durdle Door, chatting around the kitchen table or by the log fire after a day's exploring - we love this part of the world. There are plenty of maps, books and guides to browse in the cottage and the village shop is a good place to find out what's on locally. We hope you'll enjoy your stay.
Why Catriona Robertson chose Winfrith Newburgh
There's space for everyone at Old Dairy Cottage. With four bedrooms, two sitting rooms and a library area, everyone can do their own thing. The garden has a sitting-out area with table and chairs and there's also a long bench which is perfect for reading or enjoying the sunshine and birdsong. Most visitors love the farmhouse kitchen which is well equipped and has plenty of room for people to sit around the table and chat while meals are being prepared. The garden is beautiful and is well stocked. Fragrant roses, honeysuckle, lavender, philadelphus, vibernum, ceanothus, sedum, poppies and plenty of fruit - please help yourself when it ripens. We have a stock of well seasoned logs and the open fire in the barn is easy to get going and a wonderful welcome after a long walk or day out. Whether it's an interest in fossils, Thomas Hardy, wild life & birds, the Iron Age, Laurence of Arabia, the Tank Museum, gliding, skiiing, sailing, the dramatic coastline or buckets and spades on the sandy beaches - our visitors love exploring the area and relaxing back at the cottage. There is wifi in the cottage, plenty of popular DVDs and three Freeview TVs. For our younger visitors, there's a wooden castle, marble run and trainset under the stairs and lots of board games to try out. Everyone loves dipping into the books in the library - plenty for all ages.
What makes this Cottage unique
Old Dairy Cottage is a listed building and goes back centuries, when the dairyman and his family lived in one end of the cottage and the cows in the other. We love being part of the history of the countryside in Dorset.

An ideal base for walking and sight seeing
Well maintained spacious thatched cottage with an excellent garden and library.
Great character cottage. Loved it.
We really enjoyed our stay. This is one of the prettiest cottages! The cottage is lovely and had everything we needed. It was great that dish washer tabs and cleaning stuff was provided. The kids loved seeing the cows every day!
Lovely comfortable cottage
An obviously much loved family holiday cottage. Extremely well equipped with a large selection of all types of entertainment plus a brilliantly well stocked kitchen - probably one of the best we've ever experienced - great for cooking Christmas lunch! Beds very comfortable with good quality pillows and bed linen - so good that we all slept through any previously documented nocternal 'cow husbandry' that went on next door! Lovely walks with dog straight from the front door or from the village - thoroughly recommend for a Dorset break.
Clean well equipped cottage
This cottage is very well situated and well equipped. Very convenient for many of Dorset’s best features and a great little village shop. The garden is a sun trap and very pretty. The only drawback is the cows who are very near neighbours are milked 3 times a day - once in the middle of the night! This can be disruptive to sleep! The fact they are never allowed out on the grass is sad. Apart from those things it is a great cottage. Only other minor complaint is the living room furniture is uncomfortable.
Beautiful cottage in a great location
We had a wonderful time staying at the cottage - it’s in a great location, in a picturesque village just a few miles from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.
The cottage itself is beautiful, full of character and spacious.
Thank you Catriona for a wonderful stay!
A Perfect Vacation Home!
My wife and I came from the USA and rented this beautiful cottage and invited my daughter in law and grandkids, who live in England to join us. It was a wonderful and beautiful stay! And a perfect location to see all. If you are thinking about a place to go close to the beach and great things to do, then this is the place to be! Lease it, you won’t be sorry!
We're glad you had a wonderful holiday, Robert!
It was a pleasure to have you stay in our cottage. It's perfect for families and I hope the grandchildren had a great time exploring all the local activities and beaches.
Come again next time you're over in the UK!
