About Derek and Vivian
Vivian and Derek their daughter Katie and her husband Damien bought Birchenfields Farm as a joint family venture with a view to eventually working and living as an extended family.
Derek and Vivian purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Derek and Vivian chose Cheadle
Birchenfields was already in use as holiday cottages and it provided a running start for the business. We are gradually enhancing what was already a popular and pleasant venue adding features and quality to make the holiday experienced by our guests better and better each time they return - which many do. Being situated in the lovely Staffordshire Moorlands and on the edge of the Peak District Birchenfields ticked all of the boxes we felt necessary to provide a lovely family home and a unique experience for visitors
What makes this Cottage unique
Birchenfields offers ease of access to a host of attractions with the A50, A500 and M6 close enough to be handy but distant enough for peace and quiet, Alton Towers is about a 15 minute drive away with the Peak District National Park a pleasant 20 minute drive starting at the Roaches. The potteries offer numerous museums and factory oultets together with conventional shopping centres. Birchenfields is located in a quiet rural location but with ASDA, Morrissons, Boots and WH smith among other familiar names only 2 miles away If you want to stay on site then electric gates provide security to prevent the little ones wandering off and the Play Barn offers Hours of free fun to the young and not so young alike
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Perfect cottage, very comfortable, games room, great for Alton Towers
A perfect stay, very comfortable, modern cottage with everything you could need and a nicely decorated. Very near Alton towers theme parks and attractions along with good pub restaurants nearby. We had a great time and will be our first choice for future trips to the area. Games room good family fun with pool, air hockey, table football and more. Welcoming and friendly owners, many thanks.
Lovely property and hosts!
Good quality accommodation with excellent facilities in a quiet location. Derek and Vivian were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay and we would have no hesitation in recommending this property to others.
Great family stay
We stayed here for a family trip to Alton Towers, as it is only 20 minutes away. The cottage had everything we needed, and more. There were really thoughtful touches such as children's books, and kids crockery, which make such a difference to a holiday.
The hosts are lovely, and were very helpful, and welcoming.
However, our favourite part of the stay was the play barn. There was so much for them, that the kids were spoilt for choice. It really made the cottage perfect for us, and I would thoroughly recommend it!
Thanks for taking the time to review our cottage. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and. Its good to know that the play barn is a hit with guests even after the thrills of Alton Towers. Hopefully in the next couple of months the development of the play barn/meeting room will be completed and it will be an even better facility. Hopefully we will see yo again
Fantastic family get away
Lovely accommodation, very well equipped, clean, perfect size, brilliant play barn.
Perfect for small family
We enjoyed our brief three night stay. The cottage was quiet, warm, comfortable and adequately equipped for our needs as a family of three. The owners were friendly and unobtrusive. We appreciated the milk, soap etc provided for our arrival. Our 9 year old son said the games room in the barn nearby was the highlight for him - table tennis, table football, air hockey and pool table! (There was lots for younger children too.) We had no trouble finding a supermarket, petrol station etc within a few miles. We enjoyed visiting Lichfield and Shugborough Hall. We would stay again and would recommend to small families wanting to visit Staffs, the Peak District and Alton Towers.
We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Birchenfields and that the Play Barn was a hit for your son. We do try to improve the facilities year on year, for instance this year all cottages have had new dishwashers and we will soon be installing a kitchen an loo for the family meeting room and play barn. Groups hiring all three cottages will be able to eat and relax together in greater comfort
A home away from home!
We all loved our stay and will definitely be returning! The cottage was decorated to high standard with all of the modern conveniences you could want in the kitchen. It was actually much larger than I had thought it would be from the online images and there was plenty of space to relax in the evenings after a day exploring the local attractions. The games room was a real hit for the whole family too. Most of all though what we took away was the sense of being welcomed and feeling really at home and at ease throughout our stay, we were so sad to go and look forward to returning in the future! Thank you all so much.
thank you so much for your lovely review, we are really pleased you felt at ease and enjoyed your stay. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Best wishes
