This home was built in 1924 and retains much of the original charm. This house is traditional in that the living spaces are downstairs with the sleeping areas upstairs. The bathrooms and kitchen have been renovated including stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops in kitchen. Of the four bedrooms, two contain king sized beds, one has a queen and one has two twins. In addition to the bedrooms, the upstairs also has a sleeping porch with windows on three sides which let the cool summer breezes flow through the house. There is a Precor Elliptical machine on the sleeping porch which is available to use during your stay. The house has a 3 season front porch which is perfect for meals or a quiet place to read. Additionally, there is a formal living room, formal dining room, sun room with cable TV and a small office on the first floor (WiFi is available). This property has 3/4 of an acre with two outdoor sitting areas - one under a pergola and one next to a koi pond with a charming waterfall.

another great time
We came up to Pine Plains for the Huichica Music Festival and having the Pottles' place enabled us to invite several friends and families to join us. We did not take advantage this time of the well-stocked kitchen but the house was otherwise the perfect venue - comfortable sleeping quarters, several conversation centers, a great location and a communicative and responsive host. What's not to like?
We've been here before - family in Pine Plains - so no surprises. Lovely house, well equipped kitchen and lots of room. Caretaker is a pro. What's not to like?
All The Comforts Of Home!
This house was very comfortable and clean. We loved all the old world woodworking. It gave the house so much character. Our business involves custom millwork so we truly appreciated it. Our house manager was very friendly and accommodating.
The beds were comfortable and the linens were fresh and clean. The kitchen and bathrooms have been updated which was a nice feature of the house. I enjoyed waking up to the neighbor's roosters and chickens in the backyard which was also very nicely landscaped. My only issue was being located right on a main road with no enclosed fencing. If you have children or pets that could be a concern.
We plan on returning next summer!
Beautiful house with a ton of character!
The house has a ton of character! The bedrooms could use some updating. Some of the mattresses need replacing. The kitchen is quite modern and updated – lovely. Outdoor spaces are absolutely wonderful. Enjoyed them very much. Great location easy access to the downtown area.
Amazing stay in a great town
Pines Place is a wonderful town in Upstate NY with a lot to offer both locally and in the neighboring Millbrook. We had an amazing time at Jock and Paula's home which is tastefully done and has all the amenities you could need. Melissa was a great help in getting us settled and was available promptly to answer any questions.
We had a few minor observations that we've shared with Jock and Paula which, we hope, will help further enhance the experience of future guests. I highly recommend their home, and them as hosts.
This is a very nice house indeed that provided an excellent base of operations for our Thanksgiving visit to daughter who lives fat a nearby farm. Craftsman home with Stickley furniture and lots and lots of great wood. Very tastefully done all around. Four comfortable bedrooms with excellent beds. Two big porches - one four-season, one three-season. A living room made for hanging out and a dining room that accommodates 6-8 comfortably. Only one bathroom upstairs; the master bath is actually off the downstairs porch, a bit odd but not really a problem. And a very functional and well equipped modern kitchen that enabled us efficiently to cook an entire pre-Thanksgiving meal. Close to the center of town, a couple block walk to the grocery store and The Platter (breakfast-lunch) and Stissing House. A short walk to the path around the lake and not far to the Stissing Mountain trailhead. During our stay we learned that the owner of the grocery store grew up in this house. Melissa, the agent, manages other VRBO properties and is very straightforward and professional. A fine experience.
