About Fenneke Fulleylove
Back in 2002 four of us did what many people might say we'd be mad to a house whilst on holiday and buy a house with friends! We just couldn't resist! We fell in love with the whole house! We love the sun, the outstanding beauty of the Haut National Park, the miles of long sandy beaches, the tranquil Canal du Midi, the local wines, the medieval list is endless. We come over whenever we can. Retirement happily means two of us are no longer governed by school holidays! Bliss. We enjoy the different stunning wild flowers, the long, warm Summer evenings, the smell of wine that lingers in the air during the vendange in August and September. We hope you will enjoy the area as much as we do. Fenneke Fulleylove

Why Fenneke Fulleylove chose Gabian
What brought us to this area? The list is endless but the proximity of the beautiful town of Pezenas was definitely a big attraction. It's full of history, cultural activities, art exhibitions, has the best market in the area, loads of restaurants and cafés and interesting little shops in narrow alleys. The landscape around the house was also a big draw. Our house, Maison du Mûrier, in Gabian is nestled amongst the vineyards with fabulous, varied walks where, on clear days, views can stretch to the coast. The house has character and the spacious enclosed sunny courtyard with the mulberry tree (Mûrier) was also something that we fell in love with on our first visit. We like the 'Frenchness' of the village! We like the fact that we can be in the sea within 35 is a choice of airports to fly into.... As I said list is endless.
What makes this House unique
Our house works very well for one or two families or groups of friends. Unlike many houses in the area where you have to climb a flight of stairs before you get to the main rooms, when you enter our front door you are in the spacious entrance hall with the lounge, dining room and kitchen right downstairs loo. The spacious courtyard and pool make it easy to oversee children playing and swimming and the courtyard can also easily be shut off simply by locking doors opening onto it. The courtyard is also very private. The four bedrooms are all on the first floor opening onto a spacious landing. Again, it makes supervision of younger children very easy.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Wonderful traditional home
Just returned from a week’s stay in the ancient village of Gabian in the Pezenas area of France.
This two hundred years old traditional French house provided our party of four with spacious and comfortable clean accommodation, with a wonderful atmosphere of typical French charm and ambiance.
The superb enclosed courtyard, with built-in barbecue, relaxing sunbeds and outside dining area was quiet and peaceful, the only increase in noise levels being a welcome dip in the lovely pool.
The bedrooms were large and comfortable, and the bathrooms and shower areas roomy and spacious. The delightful kitchen was fully equipped with all the conveniences required to make our stay relaxing and hassle free.
The heaps of useful information about the local area, and suggestions of things to do and places to visit was very helpful. There are so many pretty villages and towns in the surrounding area that a car is an essential.
All in all, a fabulous holiday in the beautiful wine growing Languedoc Roussillon region.
A hidden gem in Gabian
This house is in the village of Gabian and can sleep 8 comfortably with 4 spacious double/twin rooms and two generous bathrooms. Ground floor has living room, dining room, kitchen, and a WC. But the key is the courtyard, with pool, bbq and outdoor living area. When at the house this is where you live. On arrival the house was clean and welcoming. Clear instructions were provided for everything so it was easy to function. It is an old house, which is its charm, but we experienced no issues at all that might be expected - everything was in perfect working order. If staying in Gabian you will need a car. The supermarket at Roujan has everything you need and is less than 10 minutes' drive. Gabian has one bar/restaurant which seemed to us to be the best of all the surrounding villages and better than most in the larger towns. There is no end to the attractions to be visited from a base in Gabian. Montpellier, Sete and Beziers are all less than an hour away, and beautiful Pezenas is only 20 minutes. We took an excellent boat ride for a few hours on the Canal du Midi from Colombiers. This property can be highly recommended.
So glad you enjoyed our house, the village and the area. Thank you for your lovely review and taking the time to write it. It's always good to know how our guests find everything as we so want everyone to have a great holiday. We love it too and look forward to being back there soon. 🙂
Thank you again.
Thank you for a great place
I would like to thank all those nice people who made sure that our stay was ideal. The house was wonderfully cool and the pool was blue, blue, blue. thank you for solving my dilema of renting your marvelous place just when we dispared from finding one for all of us at a reasonable price. We enjoyed seeing the tiny bottles and the old book that give a glimpse into the history of the house. We also loved the fact that we can walk to grocery shop, and the central location. thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. Thank you too for looking after our house. So glad you enjoyed your stay here and our little shop round the corner. Sorry you missed the re-opening of our refurbished village bar/restaurant.
Wonderful French escape
On entering this typically 'French' idyllic house we immediately felt all our stresses of life simply melt away. The spacious house manages a mix of grandeur and rustic charm in abundance; a cool haven from the heat. Plenty of equipment in the kitchen enabled us to dine 'al fresco' for every meal and the ample sized garden table allowed us to display our successful BBQ attempts. The secluded courtyard with fabulous pool, plants, and sun loungers, was an oasis of relaxation and the tree provided some welcome shade. We would have happily stayed in the courtyard all week 'chilling' but thought we had better do some sightseeing. Hi lights of our week were wine and food tasting in Pezenas on Friday night and their Saturday morning market. Pezenas is a charming town with cobbled streets in the older part; we ate there several times, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. A 'pique nique' at Peyrat wine domaine was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, sampling wines and local produce whilst sat in a leafy courtyard...bliss! Trips to the coast at Marseillan and Coullioure were amazing....get there early to park!
During the booking process and throughout our holiday the owner has provided excellent customer service and we would not hesitate in recommending this house to our friends. We left with many wonderful memories of our French vacation.
Thrilled to bits that you had such a good time. Thank you for your lovely review. I always enjoy communicating with our guests before their holidays as we just want everyone to enjoy their time at the house and exploring the area. So pleased the recommendations were highlights. There is so much to do but, like you, we also love to relax by the pool!
Fabulous house in a beautiful area
We loved this house and had a great week. It is clean, well equipped and we felt totally at home there. The courtyard is very pretty and is a perfect space to relax in and we cooked on the barbecue most nights. Gabian is worth walking around - there is a short walking tour around the ancient part of the village. Pezenas market on Saturday mornings is very good, as is the bread from Gabian's boulangerie. Gorges d'Heric is breathtaking and Roquebrun is great for canoeing and swimming. The owner provided a wealth of information and we felt we were valued guests.
Thank you Hamish for your lovely review. The baker being just round the corner is indeed rather a bonus isn't it! The alimentation next door is also quite well stocked with the essentials! We're so glad you and your family had such a great time exploring the area and that you enjoyed the house and the barbecuing.
Excellent holiday property
We had 2 weeks in this superb property. I think it's without doubt one of the best ones we've ever stayed in. The house is just so roomy. We were 7 people and we didn't once get under each others feet. Everything has been thought of, even down to a large drinks fridge as well as a large kitchen fridge. The bedrooms were large with plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space. There are two bathrooms with showers and a third toilet! Outside in the courtyard and pool area (which is to be fair where we spent most of our time) is very private and pretty. There were enough sunbeds, and in excellent repair, to cater for everyone (which in previous holidays at other properties we've not found to be the case!) The owners obviously spend time in the property themselves and this shows as the property felt like a second home - not a shut up and leave type place. There was lots of information left for us about the house and the surrounding area. We mostly ate in Pezenas which was around a 10 minute drive away - a lovely Medieval town with great restaurants, fab ice cream bars and a weekly Saturday market. We also BBQ'd a few times in the ample BBQ in the courtyard. There's not much in the quiet rural village of Gabian but that suited us. We found the boulangerie just around the corner for most mornings and sampled the pizza man in the van a couple times.. We would highly recommend this property for a great base to explore this wonderful wine growing region of France.
Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely and detailed review. We are so keen to get it right for our guests! So glad you loved the house and the area. We've been coming down since 2002 and there is still so much to explore. Thank you for looking after our home.

Our house is very well situated for all of the attractions of this lovely region where all holiday tastes can be catered for. Only a twelve minute drive away is the lively medieval town of Pézenas with its cobbled streets, famed for its Saturday morning market. The town buzzes with pavement cafes, restaurants, art galleries, artisan shops and cultural events. The Festival of Arts and Music is held in the town every summer between June and September, including historical re-enactments, concerts and exhibitions. Pézenas is well served by large modern supermarkets. Food lovers are spoilt for choice with the many restaurants in the area. A few minutes up the road from Gabian in Mas Rolland is an award winning goats cheese farm. A few minutes on from there is the Barrages des Olivettes, a favourite place for picnics and swimming. Just down the road from the house is the river. Standing on the bridge you can enjoy watching the ducks and the koipu. Watersports, boat trips, beach front restaurants and cafes are in abundance. Sit and watch the world go by in the warmth of the summer sun.
