About Amanda Button
We moved to Stone in Oxney a few years ago with our five children and four dogs. All our children have grown up and moved away now, so we decided to make the oast available as a holiday cottage. We enjoy staying in holiday cottages ourselves, and know how difficult it can be to find the right one, especially if you have dogs. We aim to offer you a hospitable welcome and comfortable stay, with everything you need to make it your own. We love it here, and hope that you will too.
Amanda Button purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Amanda Button chose Tenterden
We love the oast because, although it is a beautiful and historic building, typical of the area and its rural heritage, it is well adapted for comfortable living. We moved to Stone in Oxney because of its location in the beautiful countryside of Kent and East Sussex, and its closeness to the sea. There are lots of enjoyable walks for the dogs, as well as good cycle routes, usually with a decent pub nearby! There is always something going on, but plenty of peace and quiet as well. Camber Sands is only a few miles away, as are the loveliest small towns in Kent and East Sussex, such as Rye and Tenterden.
What makes this Cottage unique
This a traditional Kent oast, with a square kiln and a moving cowl pointing out the wind direction. We hope that you will enjoy the high standard of furnishings at Stone Green Oast, the spacious enclosed garden and, above all, the unique character of the property. With just two bedrooms, it is cosy and comfortable. The upstairs reception rooms are beautifully converted with oak flooring and balustrading, and a fantastic spiral staircase which is not out of place with the traditional oak beams that can be found throughout. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, and two adult cycles are available for exploring the surrounding countryside.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Great Oast House and Owner
From arrival to departure everything was perfect, the garden was amazing for two German Shepherds to explore and career around in! Everything in the accommodation was well thought out and every little thing was available should you need it, only complaint - didn’t stay long enough and can’t get back quick enough!
Perfect quiet break
We had such a comfortable, peaceful and relaxing short break here. The house is so pretty and well equipped and has a fenced in garden which was perfect for our spaniel. The countryside all around is beautiful for walks and exploring. The owner, Amanda was very welcoming and helpful but not at all intrusive and had left delicious goodies for us to enjoy, including an amazing homemade cake. We only wished we could have stayed longer and would love to return.
Fantastic! Highly recommend!
Absolutely beautiful stay. Amanda had taken care of everything. You are welcomed with local produce- delicious homemade bread and cake, cheese, butter, local ale and apple juice. There were eggs in the fridge as well. Squeaky clean place with an ancient world charm with a charming garden with rhododendrons. Our daughter loved it. She was gifted a little ceramic oast house as a parting gift. We loved the spacious lounge. The oast house is impeccable. We will definitely go back again.
A wonderful place to stay that bursts with character and charm.
Perfect get away
The Oast is immaculately presented and is the perfect family retreat.. Well situated to enjoy the Kent and Sussex coast and also exploring the 'Areas of Natural Beauty' while the National Trust site of Smallhythe Place is also a must visit . The welcome pack from Amanda was amazing with freshly baked bread and lots of local produce amongst the offerings.
A perfect getaway!
Thank you for a lovely review - so glad you all enjoyed your stay here. I hope we see you back here again one day!
Amanda has clearly been letting out the property for some time as she anticipates everything a guest may need and provides it! It's a great touch in self catering to find tea and coffee, to find washing tablets for the washing machine, dog food and poo bags in case you've forgotten any. A freshly baked cake, local beers, Apple juice, milk, butter. There's nothing that Amanda hasn't considered to make your stay as enjoyable and stress free as possible.
The property itself was immaculate and we'll finished. The large wide screen smart tv and excellent Wi-Fi are a great modern addition to a traditional country cottage style accommodation. The house is upside down with the living room and kitchen upstairs which means you can enjoy the garden straight through the double French doors in the main bedroom. The garden is a good size and well kept.
Whilst the property is essentially in Amanda's garden we never felt anything other than total privacy but knew she was always available when required, a great balance.
The area is great for exploring local dogs walk along the coast, including camber, rye and Dungeness.
We had a lovely stay and would happily recommend this perfect property and excellent host.
Thank you so much for your lovely review! I am glad you enjoyed the welcome pack - I love putting it together and try to include all homemade local produce. Your comments about the house are much appreciated, as I have tried to include modern comforts without overwhelming the unique character of the building. I do hope we see you all again one day!
