About Jeremy Smith
We are a family of five with one well behaved Golden Retriever called Alfie which we occasionally take for summer holidays. We visit Burnsall regularly and love the setting close to amenities but with glorious views, walks and pubs.
Jeremy Smith purchased this Barn in 2007
Why Jeremy Smith chose Burnsall
We have owned the Village Barn since Easter 2007 having fallen in love with it on a weekend visit to Burnsall. Burnsall is place that gets under your skin in Spring, Summer Autumn or Winter there is always something to see or do. The river and shingle beach next to the village green is great fun for the family. Alfie, the dog, always gets excited when we pack our things for a trip to the barn. The walking in the area is lovely and fairly easy if you stick to the river walks, becoming more challenging if you tackle the hills. The pubs serve excellent beer and food and are situated on a choice of circular walks ranging from 15 miles to 200m!!
What makes this Barn unique
The barn is located in the heart of the village and very close to the pub, shop, cafe and river walks. It is peaceful and restful with lovely views but at the same time not isolated. The wood-burner is great when you just want to snuggle up and read a book after a long ramble and pub lunch!!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Most romantic place we've stayed
What a gem. Comfortable but also with fantastic sense of place. Great location. Wish we could have found the inflatable boat somewhere, and stayed all summer!
Fabulous cottage with a real homely feel and perfect location.
A brilliant stay with everything you need
Used as a D of E base and was excellent. Had everything we need. Next year we want to go on the boat!
Fantastic trip and superb property & location. The Village Barn was very comfortable.
Excellent - delighted & wish to return ASAP, it was that good!
A Dales intro for the family
Went with husband and two teenage children. Easy to communicate with Jeremy and organise the rent and the cottage was in a stunning location. The river wharfe is fabulous and do walk along it to grassington (3.25 miles) And the cafe on the green in Burnsall is the best! Really friendly people and the most tasty food. The cottage itself is spacious and well kitted out. Bigger than it looks online. A few games could be thrown away as missing a lot but that’s minor and great to have scrabble chess etc. Small update - the village shop is now an ice cream parlour! Loved the vicinity and went llama trekking, to Harrogate and York and Bolton Abbey Skipton Castle etc all great too. Highly recommend.
Lovely house, lovely location
Ideal for us as we were visiting family in the area. Very quiet spot with a nice pub next door. Cafe nearby. No shops in the village so bring food or be prepared to drive.
This is not a beach resort but east and west coasts would be approximately 120 minutes by car.
Approximately 30 minutes from Leeds/Bradford airport.
The barn is in the heart of the village but the village is in a rural location. There is a limited bus service passing through the village on a daily basis and the nearest railway stations are Skipton and Ilkley both approximately 12 miles away.
Grassington 3 miles
Bolton Abbey 6 miles
Skipton 12 miles
Ilkley 12 miles
Harrogate 25 miles
Leeds 30 miles
York 45 miles
There is an very good pub in the village and numerous excellent pubs and restaurants within 5 miles, all of which can be included in a circular walk.
There is a small shop in the village selling basics and gifts.
Nearest bank and Post Office is in Grassington village approximately 3 miles by car or on foot.
Nearest supermarket is in Skipton approximately 12 miles away (25 minutes by car).
There are masses of things to do either as a family or friends. We like to just walk our dog and have lunch in the local pubs or take a picnic.
