About Alison Simpson
My name is Alison Simpson and I live with my family on a neighbouring farm. If you come to Woodmanwray Chapel you will probably meet some of our farm animals! You may well see our sheepdogs being trained and we will certainly bring you some of our eggs. We are really proud of the Chapel and hope that all of our visitors will love it as much as we do. We think you will find that Nidderdale is a great place to visit.
Alison Simpson purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Alison Simpson chose Harrogate
Its a great location as its really quiet and peaceful, yet there is lots to do just a short drive away. Harrogate with its restaurants and shops is only a 20 minute drive away and from there you can take a train to the amazing city of York. Nidderdale offers charming scenery, lots of 'foodie' shops and friendly people. There are ideas for walks and cycle rides in the cottage and for kids of all ages there are gorges to walk, rocks to climb and rivers to paddle in.
What makes this Cottage unique
Although the Chapel is completely modernised it still retains a lot of its original charm in the stained glass windows and stone sun porch.

Beautiful conversion in the Yorkshire Dales, what more could you ask for?
If you want to get away from it all and enjoy freedom Woodmanswray Chapel is the place to go, everything you need is there, perfect. We had lovely days out and several steam train rides, one being to Whitby. Grassington was a lovely little village to stop at with its interesting museum. There are nice pub/restaurants locally to enjoy a meal. We hope to return to the Chapel in the near future, loved it!
Wonderful week away!
Woodmanwray Chapel is a delightful property set in beautiful Yorkshire countryside. We walked and cycled from the property and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is so much to see and do in the area. The property itself is beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. Absolutely no criticisms at all - a wonderful holiday destination.
Short break at Woodmanwray Chapel
The chapel has been restored and converted to a very high standard. It is comfortable and very well equipped. The ecclesiastical artefacts are a nice touch. The welcome pack was excellent, very comprehensive and included home made cake.
Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey are easily accessible and Ripley and Harrogate are worth a visit. We had a very enjoyable stay, thank you Alison.
Thanks for your lovely review and for leaving the Chapel so clean and tidy! We hope you will come back to see some more of the area some time.
Thank you for a lovely stay! Very comfortable cottage and beautifully peaceful surrounding countryside.
Wonderful cottage in stunning location
We’ve just had a fabulous week at Woodmanwray Chapel. The cottage is a thoughtful conversion, with all necessary facilities, kept spotlessly clean. We loved being surrounded by sheep and lambs, and enjoyed watching the sheepdogs being trained and exercised.
There are so many things to do in the area, we hardly scratched the surface. We had great days at Fountain’s Abbey, Bolton Abbey, Brimham Rocks (very busy during the school holiday) and How Stean Gorge - highly recommend the Abseil & Gorge Walking here! The local walks are spectacular.
The welcome pack of tea, coffee, eggs, milk and cake & biscuits was a lovely surprise.
We hope to return!
Thanks for your lovely review. We hope you will come back and stay again!
Very comfortable conversion in great location
We felt very comfortable staying in the chapel as a family of 5. It was lovely to be surrounded by fields of lambs and sheep.
There is lots to do in the area and our 4 night stay wasn't enough to do everything we wanted.
Brimham Rocks and How Stean Gorge were our favourite days out.
