Fabulous location and beach, property itself was disappointing - shabby and tired

I normally do not post about holiday experiences, but given the amount we spent on the apartment, I feel I must raise my concerns.

A 3 bed apartment on the 3rd floor, overlooking Paynes Bay. A good size property.

We arrived to find the property not particularly clean, tired and shabby around the edges. Flowers were left in the vase, several weeks old and water not changed, debris of food in the fridge etc etc. We were told the housekeeper was shared between 2 properties in the building and was busy with the other property. The following day a lovely lady, Merleen arrived and did her best to rectify the situation. She worked hard during our stay at the property, to clean, wash, iron etc. No sign of the Housekeeping Manager, employed by Altman, to visit at a time convenient to us, although I did talk to her on the phone and she was shocked at the concerns I raised. She didn't do anything about them though.

Workmen walked into the property when it suited them; to measure up for a new oven (not working property, which they knew about and we were told to use the makeshift latch on the oven door to keep it shut, plus only use one of the settings otherwise the oven would not work); to fix the hot tub which subsequently flooded the patio area and the master bedroom floor. We never managed to use the hot tub as a result.

Oh, and then there were the flies. Swarms of them on the patio, which we have never seen during our many visits to the island.

The kitchen not particularly well equipped, clearly no money spent replacing and upgrading for a long time. Shabby beach towels (faded green, yellow, turquoise), we looked like the poor cousins compared to people staying at the other apartments in the building. Minimum money spent on tv channels. This was a common theme throughout the apartment, we understand the apartment has just been sold to a new buyer which goes someway to explain but not to justify.

We got on with our holiday, it didn't stop our enjoyment of the beach etc, just an irritant given we had spent alot of money for a 9 night stay, so expected a lot higher standard.
