Why Alison Stockwell chose La Chapelle-Faucher
Enjoyed now by three generations of the family. A lovely place to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the country.

Wonderful house that was everything we wanted but didn’t hope we’d get. Beautiful surroundings, every piece of equipment in the house we could have used. Nearby town is lovely with kayaking and good supermarkets. Already booking to go back next year. Picturesque house which kids adored. Full of personality. Pool was great for the kids and peace and quiet was just what we needed.
Rustic rural charm!
Very quiet spot to relax and unwind. Close to quite a few things to do and see and not too far from the larger supermarkets though there is a good small one about a mile away. We loved the markets on Friday and Saturday and we loved the karting as well as the château ruins.
We had a wonderful, restful week here, the outside space is amazing and this is where we spent most of our time. The pool, although small, is more than adequate to cool off on a hotter day. It's equipped with BBQ and a big range cooker. The fridge however, is very small for the occupancy, we we four and one child and this was a struggle, also not particularly cold on maximum setting. Overall, very happy...
Beautiful French farmhouse
We loved our stay at St. Georges. The house and the outdoor spaces are beautiful, comfortable and quiet. Brantome is a lovely town nearby that you will thoroughly enjoy. We had cool-ish weather so weren't inclined to swim in the pool, but we liked sitting near it, in the sun. The house was a bit of a challenge to find, but only the first time.
Quaint, quiet, relaxing
St Georges is at the end of a long yet very quiet single track road & is accordingly in a very peaceful setting. The house itself is lovely & well described in the advert. It was clean & tidy on arrival & easy to keep that way. The 3rd bedroom isn't for the tallest of folk, but then again you do sleep lying down.
The general location suited me well, with plenty of places worth visiting within easy driving distance. The local village, St Pierre de Cole, has a bakers & a decent wee supermarket, but you need to go to Brantome (which you will anyway, again & again) for meat. The nearest restaurant's in St Pierre & is a must in terms of both food & value. The Grotte de Villars is also close & an absolute must - just stunning!
I would both recommend St Georges & go back myself.
To reassure future enquiries, we now have a new housekeeper, recommended by family friends, so have every confidence the house will be thoroughly cleaned upon our guests’ arrival. On this occasion, we were very badly let down by our housekeeper, who was cleaning and supposedly maintaining the property in lieu of payment, as we had let her stay for free out of season. As we live in England, we were alerted to this complaint via email and had the property professionally cleaned as soon as possible to rectify the situation. With regards to the cleanliness of the property, the above explains how the unfortunate situation arose. No dishwasher is advertised in our ad. Most of the appliances in the property are new, including a washing machine bought in 2017 and a fridge-freezer bought in 2018, and the microwave was not in the least bit faulty. Thankfully, our pool man has never let us down and continues to look after this and the grounds to this day. Thank you for your comments about the situation of the house, as it is in a very quiet and pleasant location.
