Pet friendly, no restrictions, $90 total pet fee, leash walking only. Please check the “Pets” box when booking. This open-plan cabin has two queen suites on the main floor, both with en-suite bath and spacious walk-in closets, and a king suite with en-suite bath in the basement apartment. The basement apartment, with its own entrance and kitchen can be separated from the rest of the house for added privacy by simply closing an interior door. A narrow, oak spiral staircase that connects the upstairs living room with a spacious downstairs home theater and party room adds a bit of character to the mountain charm. There is a gas log stone fireplace in the main floor living room, jetted tub in one main floor bathroom, HD televisions with satellite in the main floor living room, home theater, billiards room and all three bedrooms. In addition to HD programming from DISH, the home theater also has a DVD/Blu-Ray player (with apps and subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu), a small movie library, an Xbox 360, and a Chromecast receiver to display streaming video from guests’ own mobile devices. The complimentary wi-fi Internet has recently been upgraded to 100 Mbps. Guests can also enjoy the full size slate pool table in the adjoining billiards room. There is a wrap-around deck on the main floor, with gas grill, propane fire table, tables and chairs and an outdoor bar. Large windows, french doors and sliding glass doors afford spectacular views of Lake Chatuge, Brasstown Bald and the North Georgia Mountains, easily the best view in NE Georgia! A solar/electric hot water heater and 24 grid-tied solar electric panels ensure that your stay will help keep the mountains and our planet healthy through the use of renewable energy. Though situated on a spacious half acre lot at the top of Bel Aire Estates, this home is within walking distance of everything in the Hiawassee city limits (if you're fairly athletic and don't mind the steep road). It's only a mile from North Georgia Fairgrounds, home of Georgia Mountain Fair and Fall Festivals, weekly Towns County Farmers Market (summer) and lakeside park and beach. Harrahs Cherokee Valley River Casino in Murphy, NC is only 30 minutes away by car, as is Helen, GA and its Alpine Village.

Why Chris Swett chose Hiawassee
The North Georgia Mountains host some of the most beautiful, yet affordable, places to live in the United States. Bel Aire Overlook takes advantage of a sunny southern exposure and 400 foot elevation (above the valley) to host a spectacular view of the lake and mountains, with the highest point in Georgia, Brasstown Bald, center stage. The wonderful view is combined with the convenience of being within the Hiawassee city limits without feeling like you're in town.
What makes this House unique
Hiawassee hosts Georgia Mountain Fair and Anderson Music Hall, which provide year-round entertainment with frequent concerts, special events and the annual North Georgia Fair and Fall Festivals. Lake Chatuge offers boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming and other recreation activities. The location is also convenient to tourist destinations such as Helen, Blue Ridge, and Harrahs Cherokee Valley River Casino in Murphy, NC. It is a convenient drive from the Atlanta Metro area and a great summer escape from the heat of south and central Florida.

Short But Great Get Away With Another Couple
Thanks for that great review, Bill! Your concerns are very relevant. We have discussed the narrow, spiral staircase with a number of guests, not only with respect to seniors and those with limited mobility, but also families with small children and toddlers. No one has yet had a problem negotiating the stairs, but it’s definitely a consideration. I’ll have to add some additional pictures so folks can see it so they can voice any concerns before booking. With respect to snow and ice on the roads, in the approximately one year we’ve been renting the house it’s been inaccessible for one day, Dec. 7, 2017, and we had no guests scheduled. Fortunately, Bel Aire Drive is a southern exposure road and snow melts quickly, usually only after a few hours in full sun. Weather inaccessibility is a full, immediate refund situation though, no questions asked.
