Exclusive Secluded Location, Direct Beach Access, Large Private Garden
About Linda Scott
I live in South West Scotland on the Solway Coast overlooking the sea which enjoys panoramic views across to the Lake District with my husband Peter and my mother Margaret. I have always enjoyed outdoor activities and sports including show jumping, clay pigeon shooting and I am a keen golfer playing out of Southerness GC.
Linda Scott purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Linda Scott chose Kirkcudbright
Burnfoot Cottage & Bothy came onto the market late 2013, which we viewed and immediately fell in love with and it's amazing location beside Dhoon Beach. Fortunately, we were successul with our offer on the property and set to work carrying out an extensive renovation project and the cottage was opened to it's first guests at the end of August 2014. The area is known to have it's own micro climate and this was very evident during the renovation, with a distict difference from the surrounding areas, even from Kirkcudbright (5 mins drive) which you can view up the estuary in the distance. We have commenced renovation of the Bothy, which will be available to rent 2020. The Bothy will be for up to two persons.
What makes this Cottage unique
Being set in two and a half acres of its own grounds, the secluded cottage offers such a lovely variation of large garden, woodland walk, sheltered sitting areas, patios, BBQ area, sun bathing areas and direct beach access. You don't have to go far for everything you require for your holiday, the "Artists Town", Kirkcudbright is 5 minutes drive and offers a wonderful selection of shops, cafes, takeaways and restaurants. Get your fish & chips and enjoy them in the park or as you stroll along the harbour watching the fishing boats coming in. Or the "Food Town", Castle Douglas is 15 minutes drive and definately worth a visit. Both towns are small and offer that old fashioned feel and charm, none of the pedestian and multistorey car parking (or charges) here!

Burnfoot cottage is the perfect chill out - relax cottage
Great communications from Linda. This is the second time here and it gets better each time we stop ...... perfect!

Very best wishes, Linda.
Superb Holiday Cottage
Firstly this is the most amazing location. Literally on the edge of the beach. Wonderful views whatever the weather- but so relaxing to sit outside with a cup of tea, whilst the sea laps gently over the rocks at high tide. When we arrived the property was immaculately clean. It is very thoughtfully equipped from the Coffee machine in the kitchen to the buckets and spades in the garage. There’s even an external shower and shampoo for your dog. We received a warm welcome from Linda and very much enjoyed the luxurious hamper of goodies. We would definitely recommend this holiday cottage.
Thank you Katherine for your kind comments and very complimentary review. I am delighted that you all enjoyed the wonderful location of the cottage and facilities. Pleased also that you enjoyed the local goodies in the welcome hamper. It was lovely to meet you all and I very much look forward to welcoming you back another time. Kind regards, Linda.
Lovely house and garden right next to the beach.
We had an excellent time and really appreciated the quality of everything in the house. Linda was most friendly and helpful, too.
Thank you Ceclie for your kind comments, I am so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday so much. It was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely family and I very much hope to welcome you all back to Burnfoot Cottage another time! Kind regards, Linda.
We stayed at Burnfoot Cottage for two weeks in July (6-20). This is our second visit to this wonderful property. The hamper of local produce left for us and our four legged family members is such a special touch. Thank you Linda.
We had a fantastic holiday - the weather was amazing and the cottage still never fails to impress - so much so you don't feel that you have to go anywhere else to enjoy yourselves as the cottage is so comfortable and well equipped. It is in a perfect location and well sited for visiting all the attractions in the area. The beach is great and for most of the time we felt it just belonged to us.
We really enjoyed our stay - the only downside was having to leave.
I can honestly say "you won't be disappointed."

This property is brilliant... very well equipped and the basic essentials in the cupboards were much appreciated. The welcome basket was the best we have ever received. Loved sitting and enjoying the view across the bay while the grandchildren played on the rocks. We enjoyed exploring this part of Scotland and i am sure we will be returning. Linda is so very helpful with advice on eating out and places to visit nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you very much Elaine for your super review. I am so pleased that you had fun exploring our beautiful area and hope to return. I am also delighted that you enjoyed the cottage facilities and goodies in the welcome basket and look forward to welcoming you all back another time! Kind regards, Linda.
Amazing! A beautifully renovated property.
The best place that we have ever stayed ... at home or even abroad.
