About Jennifer Ortiz

Paul and Nellafay bought the "old Byington home" to rear their children. Their children are now grown, but through their love, devotion, and hard work, they have restored the home and added a cottage so that others might enjoy the small town they fell in love with and watch grow into one of the premiere vacation destinations in the country. Paul and 'Nell' are elderly now, and we their children live close by and manage the cottage.

Jennifer Ortiz purchased this cottage in 1969

Absolutely Stunning!

  • 5 of 5

We cannot recommend Grandma's Victorian Cottage Enough! Simply beautiful inside and out! Wonderfully and comfortably furnished, this private, get-away spot manages to provide a full kitchen which is only one of its features. Patios lined with lush, flowering pots or trellis after trellis blooming to please you.

If you're looking for a romantic weekend, need a bit of quiet, alone time or visiting the Sonoma area Vineyards Grandma's Victorian Cottage is for you.

Cozy, comfortable, and great location!

  • 5 of 5

This is the best VRBO property we have rented! Very well equipped in every room that makes this cottage "turn-key" ready. The weather turned wet and cold but the cottage provided a comfortable living room and large television to escape unseasonable rain (and hail). The cottage is two blocks from the main square and one block to a natural foods grocery store. The owner provided us upon request of a list of restaurants that were "gluten-free" friendly and Baci turned out to be an absolute gem! A printed list is provided upon arrival that gives a thorough explanation of how everything works, what to do when leaving, and contact information.

Comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Cottage is very quaint and looks exactly like the pictures and the outdoor sitting areas are a bonus. We liked the cottage’s location close to the downtown area and restaurants and to the surrounding wine county. We like to cook our own supper after a day of sightseeing and would have appreciated having a starter package of basic condiments and would have like to have a basic dish cloth and oven mitts.

Owner's Response: We have never purchased a "starter condiment set" because we haven't any way of knowing how the condiments are used. (Example: were knives/spoons licked and then put back into a jar?) The third drawer to the left of the sink has four dish clothes; in addition, there is a roll of paper towels on the counter. There are also oven mitts in the drawer next to the stove. However, we are thrilled that your stay was comfortable as that's our main goal for our guests. We're also glad you enjoyed the outside sitting areas surrounded by centuries-old gardens. Thank you for staying with us.

Feels like home

  • 5 of 5

Although I didn't cook anything, the kitchen was large and well equipped. The outdoor area has tons of seating. The house was just as cozy as the pictures.

I dont think the location could be any better. The neighborhood is gorgeous and Everything is easily walkable from the house. The area seems very safe and peaceful.

Big John's Market is a great place to buy groceries and take away food.

Hosts were very helpful with area recommendations.

If I have to come up with an area to improve I'd say the living room could use a big ottoman to put your feet up after lots of walking, maybe with a serving style tray to sit things.

We really enjoyed our time here and could have moved right in. :)

Owner's Response: Hi Tammy Yes the neighborhood is totally safe, your assumption was correct. We are delighted you enjoyed the peaceful surroundings too. We appreciate your idea for the ottoman! Take care, Jennifer

Perfect location for two!

  • 5 of 5

This was exactly what we wanted. It is close enough to walk to the Square for food and wine tastings but secluded enough for privacy and quiet. A perfect retreat for two. We hope to return!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for staying in the cottage and for your kind words. The walking distance to town is great- we agree! We hope you can come again too. Jennifer

Cozy and quiet

  • 5 of 5

As advertised. Very comfortable and quiet, yet easy walking distance to the Healdsburg square. Decently equipped kitchen although we ate dinner out every night. The bed was very comfortable. Jennifer responded quickly to our minimal questions. As a note to future visitors, Spoonbar, Cafe Lucia, and Dry Creek Kitchen charge no corkage fee if you bring in a Sonoma County wine. Other places charge $15-25. Our best meal was Spoonbar. The lady at the visitor's center had complimentary tasting tickets to a number of local wineries. Worth a visit. Cheers!!
