The location of the property is ideal. We only used the car once for a trip outside the area. The cottage had all that was needed and was comfortable.
Small but cosy cottage ideal for short stays in a lovely place with plenty of nice walks. Dog friendly and our dog had a great time. Very peaceful for a quiet getaway. Reasonably priced also adds to the appeal, as some that we looked at were much too expensive for a few nights.
Unclean. Run Down
On arrival dog hair covered the floors rug, carpets, bedding.I had to hoover with clamped out one left emptied 3x full of dog hair!!! I should have charged you for cleaning! Daughters asthmatic itched all night had to give antihistamines. Stains on main bedroom carpet.Sofa past its best! Too low down unable to sit long with arthritic joints.Freezer supposed to be under stairs as described. False info. Had brought a few frozen things too throw out!. I would not recommend staying here.
Haverigg is a lovely place, the property was ok and comfortable
We had a great time in millom, lots of walks and beach combing to do. Once we arrived at the property we was a little disappointed, the place hadn't been cleaned very well. All the plates and pans had dried food on them so we had to go out and buy cleaning products to clean them as there was none in the property. The toilet seat was broken and was very hard to use. You couldn't turn the TV volume up over 3 without the speakers crackling. Luckily the weather was great and we spent a lot of time outdoors.
Our overall experience was good but the property could do with a lot of modernisation and cleaning. Especially airing out before people come to stay.
Property was as described, old farmhouse with a lot of original charm in great location
For our family (2 of us, 2 kids and a dog), this was an ideal property.
Far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to the lakes to explore without too much driving (conniston is 25 mins away and Windermere about 40).
There's a nice pub / restaurant a very short walk away. And a fab beach with some great dunes to explore a mile or so away
Having read some of the reviews of the house itself all i'd add is that for us it was a lovely cottage full of charm. We found it to be clean and with the amenities we'd expect. The wooden floors made it dog friendly and there are dvds, games if you're stuck on a wet day (which luckily we weren't)
Would happily stay again
Lovely cottage with everything you need. Lovely walks with the dog. Lots of places nearby to explore
Haverigg - our nearest village, is a laid back fishing village about 3/4 a mile away from The Coach House, situated on the beautiful duddon estuary with the magnificent views of the lake district hills & mountains to the north, a fantastic 3 mile golden sandy beach to the south west, most definitely one of the best hidden beaches in the uk, Windermere is only a 45 minute drive away through some of the finest scenery in the UK, an Ideal location for exploring the lakes but without the hustle & bustle of the major tourist hot spots.
Haverigg also offers a selection of pubs along with a fantastic fish & chip shop!
Only 5 minutes away from the Coach House is The Magnificent award winning beach of Haverigg, with a small cafe and a large children's play area the beach makes for a fantastic day out for all the family!
Hodbarrow’s wildlife rich coastal lagoon is the largest stretch of coastal open water in north-west England. Part of the lagoon is owned by the RSPB and several pathways take you through different habitats leading to the hide. From here, you can watch Cumbria’s only breeding sandwich tern colony. The reserve also attracts little terns, warblers, great crested grebes, red breasted mergansers and wildfowl such as wigeons. The large number of birds also attracts the attention of local birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon. From the sea wall, you may also be lucky enough to spot seals and porpoises playing in Haverigg’s picturesque harbour.
