Why Paula Whybrow chose Calbourne
We bought the property for a holiday home. We have found that its proximity to the home counties gives us easy access to an area of outstanding natural beauty complemented by a very good water sport environment.
What makes this Cottage unique
Besides its beautiful rural location, the most notable feature is its grounds. Set in 1.75 acres together with the main Farmhouse there is a great sense of tranquillity and freedom.

Perfect location for chilling out, lovely well maintained gardens. A really nice cottage
I highly recommend this location and the property and facilities are superb.
Second time here and I can't wait to go again. A beautiful, well equipped property in gorgeous gardens.
Wonderful location property was excellent for our needs ( 2 couples ) as rooms on 2 levels and both en-suite. Courtyard was sheltered and made the fabulous weather more enjoyable. Property at quiet prettiest end of island. Just a perfect 4 day break will definitely go again. Loved it all
Lovely cottage, beautiful grounds, really relaxing holiday.
Simply wonderful place
It would be difficult to say anything other than what a wonderful place this is. We shall be returning.
Beautiful cottage, tucked away....Bliss!
A lovely spacious cottage, a very short drive from Yarmouth - the sail from Lymington is beautifully placed and felt less intimidating than traveling to Cowes. There is more than ample room to park, the cottage set amid a beautiful garden we could walk around, almost able to lose ourselves in. Everything we could need was provided, so all we needed was to get shopping on the way! There are local walks from the cottage, or a very short drive, for most trips, we covered less than 20 miles - something to take us by surprise consider after excursions on other holidays. The only negative thing was that whilst there is plenty of crockery and cutlery, the tea pot and some of the mugs were chipped and this is something I would not expect, particularly as everything else was pristine and idyllic.
I had not been aware about the chipped mugs etc but they have all now been replaced. Thank you for your review I do take notice.
There are a number of beaches within 5-8 miles for children, and/or water sports. For sailing & canoeing there is Newton creek (1.5 mls) or the River Yar, 5 miles.
Shalfleet 1ml, Calbourne 1ml, Yarmouth 5 mls, Freshwater 5mls, Newport 6 mls, Ryde 12 mls
There is a local delicatessen at the end of Elm Lane (0.5 ml), and a village shop in Shalfleet. For eating out there is The New Inn (0.75 ml) with a very good reputation for food and The Horse and Groom (2 mls) specialising for families. There are also a number of very good resturants in Yarmouth
