About Teresa Tearle
My love affair with the Isle of Wight began in 2001 following in the footsteps of my boyfriend who spent happy times on the island learning to paraglide and looking for fossils. His love of the island was infectious and more visits followed together. We bought our first cottage (2 The Granary, Brighstone) in 2004 and our holiday letting adventure began! We bought our second cottage (Brookside Cottage) in 2008 and thoroughly enjoy being able to share our cottages and the island with our holiday guests. We love the Isle of Wight so much we moved here in 2017 and now run West Wight Cottages from our Island base.
Teresa Tearle purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Teresa Tearle chose Shorwell
We fell in love with Shorwell village and got married in here in 2009 - you can see the church where we got married from the cottage window!
What makes this Cottage unique
The Isle of Wight has everything we need for a relaxing and fulfilling way of life - great weather, beautiful landscapes for walking and photography, fishing, fossiling, quality attractions, music festivals, crafts shops and so much more!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Our enjoyable stay in Shorwell.
We want to thank Teresa for all her care and attention to detail regarding our booking. Her cottage is wonderful, well equipped, perfect for six people and the two young children loved their stay. We did have to put the two refuse bins strategically around one car to prevent the children wandering unbeknown to us, as the gate couldn't be closed but apart from that small detail, all went perfectly. Thank you! Best wishes. Sue Price
This cottage is the best we have ever rented. Superbly equipped and very comfortable. Thanks to Teresa & Steve for promptly dealing with everything.
We spent two weeks in this very comfortable cottage. The place was spotlessly clean and everything had been provided to make our stay a very relaxing one. The beds were very comfortable. The pub over the road was a lovely asset. It was easy to travel in all directions from the cottage as a base. Sitting in the garden watching the birds and hearing the brook was delightful. The owner was very helpful booking our ferries as well. All in all a lovely place to stay.
Thanks for your lovely review! We do our very best to make Brookside Cottage a wonderful place to stay.
Fall in love with Brookside cottage
We absolutely loved our stay at Brookside cottage, undoubtedly one of the best places we have stayed & so well equipped with so many thoughtful touches, beautifully clean & so spacious. We had a wonderful stay in Shorwell for a week with our 1yr old & Teresa was so helpful in organising the ferry & loaning us the high chair, travel cot and even a stairgate which was a huge help. We loved our hamper & everything about the cottage. We thought the Isle of Wight was wonderful with so many fantastic fun things to do. Also enjoyed the pub opposite which has friendly ducks, staff & great food. We cant wait to return!
Always a pleasure to help our guests! Brookside Cottage is a real home from home and we are very lucky to have the wonderful Crown directly opposite.
Lovely, spacious cottage with a well equipped kitchen
The cottage was very nice, in a good location, with everything we would need in the kitchen.
The owner was very friendly and communicative, and quick to help us when necessary (for personal reasons we had to cut our stay short, and she moved the return ferry booking for us at short notice).
Definitely somewhere to come back to!
As a small business we are very happy to offer a personal service to our guests - and arranging (and amending) ferries is all part of this. We aim for Brookside Cottage to be a home from home and delighted when our guests give us such lovely feedback.
Beautiful spacious cottage perfect for our getaway
We had a delightful stay at Brookside cottage which was lovely and clean and fully equipped for all our needs. We are a family of six and found the cottage a perfect size for us all.
A lovely hamper was provided on arrival which was a nice touch and plenty of information about the Isle of Wight too.
Brookside cottage is a perfect base for exploring the island.
Would highly recommend
Thank you Teresa for a wonderful stay.
Thanks for a lovely review. Brookside Cottage is very popular with families and is indeed ideally placed to explore all that the Isle of Wight has to offer. The welcome hamper is provided by the Brighstone village shop and is full of Island goodies.
2 miles to nearest beach at Grange Farm and 5 miles to Compton – long stretches of contrasting golden and dark sands, backed by multi-coloured sandstone cliffs, with the white chalk cliffs at Freshwater in the distance. Compton is the best place on the island to go fossiling, including for dinosaur bones.
Travel by car or train to the ferry ports of Lymington (to Yarmouth), Portsmouth (to Fishbourne, Ryde or Cowes) and Southampton (to Cowes). There are bus services to Shorwell from Yarmouth (via Freshwater) and Ryde / Cowes (via Newport). The bus stop is directly outside / opposite the cottage.
Carisbrooke Castle, Newport, Yarmouth, Freshwater, Dimbola Lodge / Freshwater Bay, Compton Bay, Colwell Bay and Totland Bay all within 10 miles.
Further afield are the IOW Steam Railway at Havenstreet, Brading Roman Villa, theme parks for the children at Robin Hill, Blackgang and the Needles at Alum Bay.
National Trust: Needles Old Battery, Newtown Old Town Hall, Mottistone Manor Garden, Bembridge Windmill
English Heritage: Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, Yarmouth Castle
The Island has many nice pubs serving local beer and good reasonably priced food. Many of these also have live entertainment. We can thoroughly recommend our local, ‘The Crown Inn’, directly opposite. The White Mouse Inn at Chale, The Sun Inn at Hulverstone, The Waterfront restaurant in Totland, The New Inn at Shalfleet, The Three Bishops in Brighstone are also recommended.
