Why Neil chose Volcano Village
We love Volcano for so many reasons. It is peaceful, lush and beautiful. Our house is in a lovely location, bordering on pastureland. You hear the native apapane bird, a small red honey creeper, singing and flying all day long. Our house is surrounded by native Ohia Lehua trees, and Hapuu fern trees. We have planted gardens of anthuriums, bromiliads, and orchids, which complement the native greenery. We created lots of outdoor spaces to relax in. The indoor spaces are open, bright, airy, with skylights in every room. We made the house comfortable and a happy place to live. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
What makes this House unique
Volcano Village is a country town with a few lovely restaurants, galleries, and gift shops. Hale Iiwi is located 1 mile from Volcano Village shops and restaurants, and 2 miles from the entrance to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Our community has lots of artists and scientists, and people who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, biking, bird-watching, lava viewing, star-gazing. Farmers Market on Sunday mornings at Cooper Center on Wright Road is a great way to "meet the locals" and find fantastic fresh produce grown right here in Volcano, gift items from local artisans, Ka'u coffee beans, and so much more!

We loved staying here!
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful artists cottage in the heart of the jungle. The House was really clean and the kitchen had everything from sharp knives to good quality pots and pans to beautiful dishes. The beds were comfortable and everyone slept really well. They even had a beautiful bouquet of fresh orchids waiting for us. The gas fireplace made evenings super cozy and the ping pong table was a lot of fun. They even supplied umbrellas and flashlights for us. The place felt cozy and lived in and made our experience of Volcano perfect.
Beautiful forest escape, Convenient to Volcano park
The house is lovely, inside and out. A lovely, quite oasis close to everything. The location is perfect for visiting Volcano National Park, and touring the south and East side of the big island. The home is very comfortable, and kept in excellent shape inside and out. Stay here! (July 2017, family of 4, 2 adults, 2 teenagers).
Beautiful!! Clean! Everything you need! Tropical paradise!
This place is perfect and meets all your needs! Caren and Neil have a beautiful home nestled in the tropical rain forest setting. They have anticipated your every need. There are beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and even 2 different size coolers with ice packs in the freezer for you to use. Whether you want to go, go, go all the time and do all the fun activities on this side of the island or sit back on one of the two porches...this is definitely the place for you!
Lovely, comfortable home and perfect location for Volcano National Park!
We stayed 4 nights while visiting Volcano National Park. Less than 10 minutes from the Park entrance, this was the perfect location. The house was spotlessly clean and with all the comforts of home. We especially enjoyed the amazing artwork, much of it by the homeowner which made it even more special, and the incredible QUIET. The beds have extra blankets for sleeping with the cool evening breezes flowing in -- so relaxing and comfortable, we wished we could stay longer!
Peace and Artful Surroundings in a Rain Forest
Pictures can't convey the peace and tranquility we experienced in this lovely, well-appointed home. The personal touches, including the owners own beautiful artwork, the upgraded bathrooms, the comfortable beds, and the ping pong table (my daughter's favorite) all added to a very memorable stay. Meanwhile, the entrance to Volcano National Park was just 5 minutes away, giving us the convenience to explore the park during the day, and visit the lookout point with the glowing lava at night. We hoped to stay in a nice "house", but instead we feel we stayed in a wonderful "home". Thank you to our hosts!
Thanks so much, we appreciate when people enjoy it.
Wonderful "Forest Get-a-way"
Recently stayed in this beautiful home. It was perfect for a peaceful retreat. Close to Volcano Village and Volcano Park, yet tucked away in the rain forest for privacy. Nicely decorated with plenty of conveniences. Owners were easy to work with before before and after our stay. Easy check out process, which we appreciated. Have stayed in other places in the Volcano area. This is in the top two. Definitely recommend.
Mahalo, we look forward to having you again!
Volcano is outside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. There is hiking galore, fantastic lava and forest scenery abounding with wildlife. A half hour drive to Hilo or Punaluu, in one direction of the other, takes you to black sand beaches where green sea turtles, fish, coral abound. You can sea whales during winter months (November - March). Ocean sports are good fun in Hilo, such as stand-up paddle boarding, snorkeling, swimming with turtles, looking at the fish and coral, walking in Liliuokalani Park and Coconut Island... There are so many shore wonderful activities to do in nearby Hilo!
